Has anyone applied this year for the Elks MVS Scholarship?? If so, have you heard anything from the local, district, or state levels?? If anyone is from Maine, have you heard anything from them (I'm from Maine, and I haven't heard anything at all)?

made it through local and district, then got a rejection letter from state here in Missouri...was sometime ago...

Yep, my D won an award locally, made it to district and went onto state, but stopped there...

^^Ditto for my S in Indiana.

Yep, son made it to state and then got the rejection letter. : (
That was the end of it.

Same with my son, in California

Can some people share their stats?? I'm curious to see how difficult it is to receive this scholarship... I won the local and district, but I haven't heard from the state...

My D has great stats - I think like many scholarships, it's hard to know what makes one student stand out from another.

3rd in her class of 450
GPA - 4.6
ACT - 32
Very good EC's - Student Council president, officer Nat Honor Society, Piano/Dance awards/performances, active in church, etc. etc. etc.
Great letters of recommendation!
Essay - very creative, grammatically letter perfect.

Who knows? They never meet these kids in person (at least in our experience) so who knows what they are looking for! Good luck!

1st in class
31 ACT
Great Ec's
Lots of community service

It is also based on need so I believe that is where he must have lost it at state level.

I made it to the national level from New York (1000/yr for 4 yrs)
top 5% of class
1410 SAT
lots of leadership/community service and great internships
I think this scholarship is really incredible because of the sheer number that they give out.

i was 3rd in national level and I found out last friday. I'm pretty excited!
