2007 Football Ticket information release date for students?

According to gopsusports.com, the information for the 2007 is suppose to come out this month...but the month is almost over. Does anyone know what month they usually release the information. A few friends from UIUC and Purdue have already received the information for their respective teams' 2007 seasons. I'm wondering when PSU you will do the same. Hopefully soon...

From what I hear, Penn State will send out 2 emails this year before tix go on sale. One should be sent right around now and the other one towards the end of May. Tickets will go on sale during the first week of June.

Are your certain that it goes on sale the first week of June? I heard, from somewhere, that it was sometime in mid-July.

No, Im almost positive that it will be in the beginning of June. But who knows, we shall see soon.

Sorry for the double post, but Penn State Live just posted an article about this.

STUDENT TICKETS WILL BE A LOTTERY THIS YEAR.

I just can't believe this. There are going to be a lot of passionate fans who will not be able to get student tickets to the games. Im shocked. This has got to be one of the worst decisions made by Penn State athletics.

http://live.psu.edu/story/23996

Theres the article.

This really sucks....

wow - lots of freshman won't be registered by the time the lottery period starts so they'll miss out. Does anyone know how many tickets are reserved for students? I know they got lots of grief last year for selling tickets to freshman at FTCAP.
One thing to keep in mind...it's still a bit first come- first serve. If you miss the window - you're out of luck.

There are 21000+ tickets in the student section, with about 80000 Penn State students thoughout all of the campuses. So, even if half of these students want tickets, that is still only a 50/50 shot at getting tickets.

I still can not believe this. Ive been a diehard Penn State fan since birth, and have been up to atleast 2 games a year the past 10 years. It wasn't my sole reason for picking Penn State, but I was really looking forward for football games next year. I only pray that I get lucky enough to get tickets.

Like Orioles, Penn State football is a significant reason I chose PSU. It's a bummer they switched the method. A chance is better than no chance though.

I really feel bad for any upcoming seniors. Keep an eye on the Collegian - this is the last week of classes and then finals next week - would be interesting to see the student response and if it changes anything.

From what Ive seen, there is a facebook group that was created last night with over 2000 members already. They are also planning a rally at Old Main for 12:00 on Thursday.

Hopefully the university will take action after seeing the response from students.

What Kinda crap is this....I didnt get tickets last year because I couldnt afford them when they were on sale...Now Im gonna have the money and I was planning on buying them the FIRST day they came out..but they pull this idiotic idea.

How does this work for incoming freshman? It says that you have to be registered. Does that mean that you have to have registered for your classes? What about students who have their FTCAP date after the date of the lottery?

The lottery registration begins on May 28. My FTCAP date is May 24. I HAVE A CHANCE!!!

kiddo - it looks like you have to be registered for a min of 12 credits in order to be eligible for the lottery. Really not fair IMO. Then again, I believe they ran out of tickets in a week last year (in June).

The Penn State football student section is usually quiet in early May. Not this year.

In less than a day, thousands of Penn State students have spoken up on various social networking web sites to say they don’t want a lottery to determine who can purchase season football tickets in 2007. Most of them want to use the same system that was in place last year -- when a record number of students tried to purchase tickets as soon as they went on sale.

Although Penn State has the second largest stadium in the nation and one of the largest student sections in the country, thousands of students said they are worried they may be left to watch the games on television.

"It became very apparent, very quickly, that most Penn State students want the first-come, first serve, system,” said Greg Myford, associate athletic director. "So that’s what we are going to do."

The dates originally slated for the student ticket sale will remain the same. They are:

-- Week of May 28: All full-time students for Fall 2007 semester, including the incoming freshman class, will be notified via e-mail and U.S. Mail service of the detailed instructions for participating in the sale, as well as a reminder of the start date of the sale. E-mails and U.S. mail addresses used will be those on file with the University.

-- June 7: This is start date for the 2007 student football season ticket sale for all full-time students.

-- Week of July 23: Student season tickets will be mailed to the students' home addresses that are on file with the University.

All ticket sale participants will need to know their Penn State student ID number to access the sale site.

The ticket sale process requires a valid Mastercard, Visa or Discover credit card. Tickets will be charged to the account immediately upon successful completion of the purchase.

This information also will be available on the ticket office page of GoPSUsports.com online.

Was just getting ready to come post this. You have no idea how happy I am right now. I am really surprised of the immediate decision from the University. I thought for sure that this thing would drag on. They really impressed me today.

We Are...Penn State!

Thats what I love about Penn State. They put students FIRST!

How much do tickets usually cost for students?

around $160
