if you look here, it shows you what percentile you are:

and so according to that no, the cutoffs did not change… /go down.

Thanks for the chart, ultmtdream. Yes, the scores did change. They went down slightly and not across the board. 142 was the 50th percentile last year; it is 52nd percentile this year. At the top, 240-222 is the 99+% this year; it was 240-223 last year. Individual states may change, but overall, scores dropped slightly.

freshman year

CR - 63
M - 53
W - 58

soph year

CR - 66
M- 69
W - 58

193 (94th percentile out of sophs)

first time i took it i tried to omit ones i thought id get wrong and it didnt work out. didnt do that the second princeton reviews strategy isnt that good btw. also i had to pee really really bad during the writing section so that was pretty hard to concentrate. i was hoping for 200+. im a little disappointed but considering i only worked on the math i guess i did ok.

hey i just got my score back (2230!). im trying to enter the stuff into the quickstart thingy. i put in my access code and for the year i put in 2007. its not working and saying that the year is wrong. wat should i do?

P.S. 2230 should make the cut for nj right?

I got a 214…71 W 72 CR 71 M…but my thing says I’m in the 99th percentile. Is there any remote possible 0.00001% that i can get semifinalist?

^223 is possibly borderline in NJ, i think it was 223 last year and thats because they took a dip that should correct itself this year…

^RootBeerCaesar, you say that you’re from NY. I thought that the cutoff last year was a 219; the recent history indicates that the cutoffs have been anywhere from 217 to 221. This range probably means that to have any hope for semifinalist, you’d need at least a 217, even that might not be for sure. Anyhow, there’s probably a 0.000000001% chance… but… just… really, not likely. I do hope that the cutoffs went down though, haha.

Just got my scores from school today:
Math – 80
Writing – 73
Critical Reading – 79
Total – 232

Yay for National Merit! Of course, North Carolina has a pretty low limit (214, I think)…

Missing one question on the math meant a 75, though. That’s pretty ridiculous. Several of my friends are probably not going to get National Merit because of that.

Good job everyone!

Bleh, oh well. I know I’m going to do a lot better on the SAT anyway since I took it in November (So I got my SAT scores b4 my PSAT scores) and got 2190. I’ll still be commended anyways I guess.

in NJ, got a 218… any chance of NM semifinalist?

This whole state thing is soo stupid.

the thing says im in 99th percentile.

raises hand

Concerning that link, kinda weird more soph took psat than juniors. am just sayin.
I know my school has recieved psat scores back, cos i saw my schools career centre with all the score reports today. Just hope they give it to us tommorow.

I want to find out my scores now! I know I probably didn’t do as well as you guys did, though…

i improved 24 points from my sophomore score

CR 78
math 73
writing 80

total: 231

Is it just me, or did any of you spot some potential mistakes by the grading computers on your tests? On my test booklet, I’d circled the correct answer for all but 2 of the questions I got “wrong”, and I very rarely make bubbling mistakes on regular or standardized tests. I wasn’t pressed for time, and it wasn’t a numbering mistake because no two wrong answers were in a row. Any similar experiences? Can you get your PSAT hand scored?

hmmm, a wee bit uneven. Not too upset though, as I’d stayed up the whole night, not knowing I was gonna have to take the test.

CR 78
W 72
M 55

Huh, maybe you changed your mind and put a diff answer or then again maybe cb made a mistake which has been known to happen.

So we can not get our PSAT scores online right!?

Well maybe on December 10th?

If anyone thinks I can get my scores online–PLEASE tell me how!!

My son got his scores on Wednesday from his high school, along with the test booklet. Makes sense, since the HS organized the test sign-up and it was held there. It did say on the sheet that he could go to “quickstart” on the collegeboard site and get more information. However, he tried that and it said that the information would not be available until 12.10.

My son is also in NJ, with a 203 index, 97%. So, carsonne, you have a better chance than he does. But believe me, we are thrilled.

It’s all relative!

My son just got his PSAT score yesterday. do you know where i can find the cutoffs for the state of Michigan?
what score he needs to be a Semifinalist?

Thanks dobiesk8r, that’s kind of what it looked like to me too!

Congratulations on all of these great scores out there!
