It is December 13th now, but I am still getting the “week of December 10th” message when i try to access My College QuickStart. Is everybody else still getting this prompt? If so, I hope the College Board’s idea of the “week of December 10th” does not mean sunday at 10pm..

I am still getting the “week of Dec 10th” message. Wish they would just show us the scores!

The scores are online – at least ours are in Virginia – BUT you have to have the access code, printed on the paper PSAT printout in order to access them.

Unfortunately, we don’t have ours. My dd is homeschooled, so we just have to wait for them to be mailed to our house. (College Board has promised they’ll be here within a week…so we’re still waiting!)

But, for those of you who have received the paper with the access code, you CAN find your PSAT scores online.

yeah. if you have your access code you should be able to view quickstart here: https://quickstart.collegeboard.com/posweb/viewPsatScoreReportAction.do?testYear=2007§ionCd=W

We are also homeschoolers and still waiting for our postal mail here in Minnesota. I hear that local public high school students have yet to see their score reports.

My school does not give scores back until Dec 17 but I went online to check today and it’s out. I didn’t even need a code to access so I think anyone can go and check. I live in New Jersey though.

My scores were:
CR - 76 (2 wrong)
Math - 80
W - 73 (2 wrong)

Selection Index: 229

Easternwind, you took the psat in 2006 then?

hmmm, at least quickstart is finally up

Math 76; quickstart says typical SAT scores would be 650-750. What’s up with that? I thought the predicted SAT score would be ten times the PSAT score, so 760.

because the SAT is longer, they predict you’ll get a number of questions wrong within a range of how you performed on the PSAT

Yeah but the top predicted SAT math score, 750, is less than the actual PSAT score, 76(0).

The predictions are based on group average scores on the SAT for each scoring level of the PSAT. Some individuals beat the predictions–I did, in my day.

Ah. Reversion to the mean.

Is 2006 access code different than 2007 access code? or are they the same? my quickstart asks me for the access code.

The scores just arrived for my son by postal mail. The doofus College Board online interface suggests more than 1,000 colleges as being good matches for my son, and doesn’t match up any of his self-reported personal information from his SAT account to his PSAT account, and seems confused about which password he has. They really need to hire better computer people at College Board for the Web applications.

So I’m guessing then that the score range prediction for the 76 math scorers is as follows: take all the students who scored 76 last year. See what score they got on their math SAT. Pick the middle 67% (one standard deviation either way). Report that as the predicted SAT score: 650-750.

This suggests there’s a lot of volatility at the upper end of the score range. It strongly suggests that high scorers should repeat the SAT.

I’m not sure of the exact nature of the statistical procedure, but, yes, it is based on real-world experience and always reports a RANGE of possible SAT scores for any particular PSAT score. There is always more volatility, to use your term, at the top of the scoring range of any mental test than at the middle. (That’s true of IQ tests too, which is why they cannot possibly be used to find out who is the smartest person in the world, quite apart from other difficulties connected with that problem.)

Yes, variability of scores means that there is some warrant for retaking tests. It also means that there is some warrant for sitting tight with scores that are high enough. How high is high enough can be estimated approximately from

Good luck in the application season.

What would your writing score be if you got 6 wrong (no omits?)

finally, quickstart is up. For anybody who is wondering, I made an account about a week ago and entered my 2006 code. Today when i logged in, it automatically took me to my 2007 scores. I didn’t even have to re-enter the 2006 code for 2007. This is especially nice because my school is holding our grades until next week. Anyways, here is how i did

Reading: 68 (-6)
Math: 80 (0)
Writing: 72 (-2)
Overall: 220 (should qualify in AZ)

It is a shame i always overthink the critical reading questions. I am happy at least that i improved from 216 in my sophomore year. The difference came in the 80 in math this year as opposed to a 76 with -1 last year. I just wish the writing curve wasn’t so harsh. For the guy who missed 6 on writing i would imagine that would give you mid-fifties, which is sad considering -6 reading gave me a 68. Oh well, gl to all and thanks for the link.

I logged on and was asked for the “code” to see 2007. 2006 is still showing and then a link on the right under “previous PSAT scores” also shows 2006. I guess I will have to get the info from my counselor (took Princeton Review and want to see if it made any difference before my parents pay for the SAT classes). I may try the old access code and see if it works first.

My school FINALLY got PSAT results to us today. I’ve been reading the boards here and worrying about mine for days.

My Scores:
Reading: 79
Math: 70
Writing: 80

Selection Index: 229

Unless the Arkansas cutoff goes up 30 points next year, I’m good. I’d be okay even if I was in Mass., which is cool.
