2007 PSAT Scores

It was explained to me last month that there is no ryhme or reason as to how the schools get scores in and schools within the same county can get them on different dates. The school my son goes to administers the test to 9th and 10th graders as well, and the school holds the scores for those students a little longer. I remember getting the report right before Christmas break 2 years ago and a little earlier than that last year.

I have the test and score report in front of me. Question 34 on the writing section was the one with the bill and the one question my son got wrong on the section!

The opponents of the bill were few but influential enough to prevent its being passed in the House. The correct answer was E. My son had put C (its)

I'm in a Florida public school and I got my scoers yesterday!

227- higher than any practices I've done.
79 CR- 1 wrong
75 math- 1 grid in wrong
73 writing- 2 wrong
99% yay :)

I wasn't sure if I'd make it or not- I was up until 12:30 the night before in a paniced studying of my Princeton Review book-- I didn't get to review very much.

Congratulations on your scores^Lol, I'm in FL too. The curve is harsh for math this time. Do you by any chance remember the question in CR about how this one son viewed his father being potrayed by the media? Choices were like - zealot, vigilante, caricature.

Thank you! Yes I remember it- the answer was caricature.

Was the one above it dismissive? lol srry for all these questions

Whoa. Harsh curve this year. (Last year I got -1 per section and that was 80, 76, 78. Nottt expecting a score like that this year. Rrrrgh. And I already knew that I missed the 'caricature' one... hah. -1 there.)

In IL and have not gotten scores yet!! Panicking!
I'm a junior, got 209 as soph and hoping for a boost for NMSF.
Normally 80 on math, but not this time...afraid of curve. Missed 2 MC and 1 gridin.
Critical reading and writing - cautiously optimistic-
I too missed caricature question on CR
but what about the writing question on some planet's moons?
Math has freaked me out now

Do the wednesday and saturday tests have the same curves? If they are, I'm doomed on the math section.....(missed 1 or more)

***, I'm in Florida, and I don't have scores yet. grrr

Does anyone know how to access last year's PSAT scores and stuff on collegeboard?

Whatt??? I want my psat scores!! DAMN IT.
I'm in GA. Not fair.
I want my PSAT scores!! ugh
I want to know if I'm have a chance at semifinalist or commended! UGH. lol

Some HS counselors have received them in their offices, but won't disclose for another week or so. Too busy with college apps right now.....

^ haha. Well our school is small, so I guess we will get them this week. I hope!!
I think I did worse on WR than on my SAT wr, but I have no clue! Psat's not that important but I still want to know my scores.

I'm at a public school in Illinois where we still haven't gotten scores, but if I remember right, they arrived in the mail mid-December last year.

I'm so anxious...... I got a 214 as a sophomore and 219 on a practice test this year, but I think I might have fingers crossed gotten around 223 this time.

I probably am crazy but humor me...I'm anxiously waiting for my scores...

Did anyone who has their 2007 scores access "My College Quickstart" on collegeboard.com last year to look at PSAT score info and review the questions? If so, I think I may have found a way to predict this year's 2007 PSAT Critical Reading and Math scores, but cannot be sure if it is correct unless I ask some other people too.

This must sound very vague so I'll try to explain...
I went to My College Quickstart and clicked on My College Matches. On the left side of the page that comes up there is an Admissions section. It gives a range for projected SAT scores. My critical reading range is 650-760 and my math range is 610-710. Very coincidentally, the range my 2006 PSAT score report gave me last year is critical reading 65-73 and math 61-69 and my actual score in each section was the average of the range. (As you can see both ranges have the same lowest point, but go higher than the 2006 psat score report range.) What I am thinking is if you subtract 40 (to get the average of an 80 point range)from the highest number on each range under the Admissions section, this might equal the 2007 psat score. (For me critical reading 760-40= 720=72 psat and so forth) Does this work for you? I understand if this totally confuses you, but if you get it let me know. Thanks!

Today, I was sent a letter by the New College of Florida congratulating me on being a National Merit Semifinalist and to apply for one of their scholarships. Did anyone else get anything from a college notifying them of being a National Merit Semifinalist? Are they lying to me? I don't understand why they would do that. I doubt I did well enough to be a national merit semifinalist though...

Nevermind ignore my post I figured out the answer for myself. Those ranges are still for 2006.......

For those of you trying to sort out the curve, I have a question: When you say, for example, 2 wrong = (whatever it equals), are you noting whether the missed question was ranked easy, medium, or hard by CB?

I'm just wondering whether the curve this year is truly THAT much steeper than last year's, or whether maybe - just maybe! it could be an ignorant question! - missing a medium = more points off than missing a hard.

Presumably the PSAT score equating methodology is based on that for the SAT.

http://www.collegeboard.com/research/pdf/rn14_11427.pdf

Reading that whole article carefully may provide some answers.

The questions I missed (1 on CR, 1 on M, 2 on W) were all hard questions. I got a 79,75, and 73 respectively. I don't think they'd count off more if you missed a medium question.

Does anyone understand the thing at the bottom of each scored section where it says, ex. "You answered incorrectly 1 question(s) and lost 0 points." What points are they talking about? I supposedly lost 0 points on all my sections but my scores definitely went down.

Also, does being in the 99th percentile ensure National Merit Semifinalist? My friend scored right above last year's cutoff index-213 but is still 99%. Our math teacher nearly gave her a heart attack when he said it was based on Selection Index, not percentile and that she might not make it.
