2007 Volunteering (That's Still Allowing Apps)

I'm a senior next year, and I wanted to do something useful with my time over the summer. I was thinking along the lines of a volunteer program, but I'm pretty much open for anything.

I know that a lot of programs have already chosen candidates or whatever, so I've been trying to look for programs that are still allowing applications to come in. Does anyone have any ideas?

Requirements (yours don't have to fulfill these, but this is somewhat of what I'm looking for)
- all expense paid...so not really something like Landmark Volunteers. But I don't mind things like application fee or anything of that sort.
- something around the Tri-State area..NJ, NY, CT or even PA
- It can be anything from volunteer work or leadership programs like RYLA or even things like TASP.
- Anywhere from around June 24th to August 31.

Thanks in advance.

free stuff is generally competitive and deadlines have passed, etc
either you can pay to go to a summer program, or just look for somewhere to work, volunteer, intern in your area

try your local hospital (it should be free)

There are so many places where you can volunteer! Homeless shelter, museums, parks, camps, nonprofits are all great places that really need the help of people like you and I. And you're in the NY area? You've got zillions of great opportunities. But if you don't know where to start, try volunteermatch.com. It's really amazing what you'll find on there.

Thanks! I really appreciate your responses!
