2008-2009 applicants

Figured I'd get a thread up just so we can share in the nervousness together. EA doesn't notify until January, right? Geez. Plus this forum is pretty deserted so let's get the ball rolling.

Class of '08, represent!

Hey.

I applied EA to Chapman. I looked on my network account today and it says they haven't recieved anything, even though last week it said they had everything. I'm a little nervous so I will call tomorrow.

Good luck!

My S applied EA for film production. My understanding is that film production majors are required to apply EA, but they don't find out if they are in until April. Maybe they'll find out they are in at the school, but not in that major. I'm not sure about that.

Also, why is there only one thread here? Why don't the old ones stay here like on other forums? Anybody know?

Oh, they're here, just old enough to have been swept off the main forum page. If you specify at the bottom of the forum page to show all threads from the beginning, not just from the last 30 days or whatever it says, others should pop up. :)

Yeah, I applied Early Action as well. I'm getting really impatient! haha.

Anisha08, I applied to LMU, too - sweet.

Good luck everybody!

I applied November 15 for early action--- does anyone know when the decisions will come?

Their paper app says notifications will begin on January 15.

Anyone know if they require a Mid-year report? Their paper app says that they will mail requests for them, but I don't know if I should prepare my school registrar to send them one...

Today I got a big envelope from Chapman, but it was about financial aid. It made me really excited. But I still don't know if I'm in. GAH!

Has anyone gotten a PIN number/ ID thing? I don't recall getting one...

Oh, anisha08, I see you are applying to Chapman, too. My daughter has not received the big envelope from Chapman. I would like to think that they wouldn't send that to you if you weren't accepted to the school. Sounds like good news for you.

I'm taking a break from studying and I'm bored, so let me interpret the letter Chapman sent me:

"Dear Anisha,

I am pleased to provide you with information about the financial aid program at Chapman University...."
Okay. I don't know if I received this because I'm on the mailing list, or because I'm an applicant, or because I'm accepted.

The letter ends with "Throughout its history, Chapman University has provided over 200,000 students with financial aid. We are dedicated to serving you and making it possible for you to attend our University..."

HMMMMM......hahaha.

Okay back to cramming until my eyes bleed.

Haha Anisha! that sounds nice!. =).

at least chapman isn't sending u brochures about their program.

i know plenty of NYU ppl who are getting brochures and have noooo clue if they are in or not, and some ppl who got in didnt even get brochures.

financial aid certianly sounds better than student news brochures.

also, if they don't accept you, i will send chapman spam emails about it and how they are wasting paper, etc etc etc. they better accept you.

I applied EA to Screenwriting. I got a letter the other day saying my recommendation to screenwriting was not received -- so now I have to have that sent. Supposedly that won't be counted against me. Who knows.

January 15th! That's when we start hearing -- and I'm thinking that it should be Jan. 15 since they don't have 30,000 applicants.

I got the financial aid letter too. It made me angry (not really), because the EFC calculator says I wouldn't qualify for any financial aid anywhere (when your estimated EFC is $40k ...yeah) so it was like FAFSA nanananabooing me!

I got that financial aid packet too... I had a friend who got denied from chapman last year who received that same paper... so unfortunately I dont think it means anything. :[

Do you know much about the stats of your friend who was denied, meandmygiraffe? Overall, Chapman doesn't seem to be too selective, yet I know that some programs (film for example) are very selective.

I just wanted to post the link to the official Chapman blog:

We were looking at the numbers this morning and our reports indicate that we're going to be up on applications a pretty sizable amount this year. It's too soon to say exactly how much we will increase, but it should be another solid year of growth.

All things considered, we're doing pretty well with our goals in reading and decision making. We do, however, have more to process than we thought so we're all going to be putting in extra long hours to make sure we get as many decisions out by January 15th as possible. Having said that, it will probably be a short while before we are completely done with early action decisions so if you don't hear from in the next few weeks, please remain patient - we will get to you.

Eeek I'm IN! YES!!!

Congrats! I think I am in too! Did you look at webadvisor and see Admissions Approved? or have you actually received a letter in the mail?

Congratulations, you guys! I can't find a user name and password around here for my S, and I'm guessing they won't give it to me on the phone (I'm only the one paying the bill, after all). So I wish he'd hurry and get home so he could call and get the user name and password! He applied for film production, so it's doubtful he'll be on there, but I know he'll want to check.

Congrats both of you! And good luck to your film production son! If any of you have any questions about the college, I'd be happy to try to answer them. I did a year at Chapman, taking a leave of absence now but I do remember the school pretty well.
