2008 DAVIDSON FELLOW announced

Read about the fellows:
Davidson Gifted ~ Davidson Fellows - 2008

I always wanted to enter this competition with my research, but now i'm in college so I can't :[

Wow, that 12 year old kid is a genius.

Cool stuff!

Not to discount these kids' amazingness or anything, 'cause I'm sure each one is very intelligent and did a lot of exciting work, but the really complex scientific ones reek of "student capitalizing on mentor's work."

Also, I found a poster on these boards! I wonder how many of them do post on here...?!

Um what exactly did the 12 yr old girl do? She wanted to promote Bach music...it doesn't say how or anything? jw

I was going to enter this competition under the philosophy section (I actually was about 1/3 through the project) but then junior year became too stressful and I gave up.

Hmmm, I posted in your other thread, but I'll just repost my message here:

It honestly seems like some of the first place projects required lots of additional outside help, and I can't really imagine some of the students arriving to their conclusions independently.

Then again who knows, you would have to be a complete dolt to have not thought of“The Production of Methane in a Two-Chamber Bio-Catalyzed Microbial Fuel Cell Utilizing Methanosarcina barkeri” on your own.

^^^
Exactly what I was thinking. =/ Almost all the finalists at my state science fair had ridiculous projects like that, and it was SO obvious that it wasn't their idea.

I believe they all do some sort of summer projects at different Universities. That's where all the topics come from. There are plenty of summer research programs out there for high school students.
