Do any of you happen to know what is the acceptance rate for waitlisted for the past few years?

Waitlisted too.

sigh waitlisted as well

I believe Brown University had around 500 people accepting their waitlist offer and around 50 people were granted an offer to be admitted.

Does Brown university have a common data set?

Office of Institutional Research at Brown University
Brown Admission: Facts & Figures

These two links should get you some info. I can't find Common Data Sets per se.

also waitlisted...depressing week

Getting waitlisted feels like you're in a gray area. You don't know if you're getting accepted or rejected.

waitlisted...but am happy!!! cuz i didn evn expct it...wait til u hear my SATs guess my rapping wrapped up app...

wait listed...

I've got a question! Can I submit my 500 deposit for another school, while waiting for Brown? And is it cheating if I got off from the waiting list, went to Brown, left that school's freshmen pool? I really got complicated in this issue, as an international student of this year.

That is perfectly ok. That is how the waitlist works. You will not get your deposit back however.

Thanks! I strained my ankle. So I can't send that confirmation card back to Brown...feeling anxious in recent days.

oh... i've been waitlisted too. I thought my application was ok and I would get in, but never be overconfident as my teacher used to say...

I was waitlisted, but I've withdrawn

Good luck to everyone!

Yep, waitlisted here too...

I got waitlisted at Brown as well. I talked to somebody who used to work for Brown admissions and one of her big pieces of advice was not to send in too much, as you may start to annoy the admissions people. It's just so hard- Brown's been my first choice since I was about 3 years old lol. I want to get in so badly, and I know I could contribute to the University and succeed, but I just don't know how to convey that and it feels like they aren't even listening.

I understand it's tough but there's still a chance that you'll be able to get in. I was waitlisted last year, was really disappointed, but I sent in my deposit to JHU, sent a nicely written letter of interest to Brown admissions, and waited until early May when I received a phone call from my regional rep saying I got in. I believe that although no one was accepted from the waitlist in 2006, around 20-30 were accepted in 2007. So do the best you can, wait, and hope for the best.

Llefys, that gives me a lot of confidence. Looks like I may very well be sending my downpayment to Hopkins as well... I'll hope to replicate your story :)

Accepted admission at Dartmouth, but I can't stop thinking about Brown. Anyone know when we're supposed to start hearing back?

mid-may...

here is a thread I wrote last year regarding my experiences in 2005. I found out May 17th
