me toooooo, My prediction...It will be a good year for waitlisted people from pretigeous Universities!! Harvard and Princeton changed their rules and the effects will ripple thru the prestigeous colleges enrollment. Columbia and Duke are already tapping into their waitlist (and it not the middle of May).

SpicyChipmunk, exact same situation here
I guess Brown seems to stick to the dates they tell us so anytime between May 15 and June 30..

Oh and iwannabe_Brown, I wrote such a similar email to my regional admission rep a few weeks ago (I didn't send a letter because I'm an international and mail takes forever to reach) but all I got was an automated response that she wouldn't able to check her email until late April. Still haven't heard from her... seems foreboding :(

Yeah, I also wrote the admissions committee a letter to that effect which I sent in with my waitlist reply card. I'm hoping ivyleaves is right and we all get some good news soon :)

Anyone heard anything about the waitlist yet? Do they know how many waitlisted students they'll take?

I didn't heard anything yet. I think you've got the letter stating that the decision will be made in the mid May. So we've to wait...

where will you go if Brown missed you?

I accepted UC Berkeley's offer of admission, but I'm still hoping to get accepted by Brown.

Right now I'm a member of University of Maryland's class of 2012 - they gave me a full ride. I still love Brown though...

emma,

Congratulations on the full ride! Don't take that lightly. That is huge. You obviously worked very hard to earn that. best of luck to you

has anybody called to see whats up?

I think my GC is planning to call in the next couple days. If I find anything out I'll be sure to let you guys know.

" Some bad news for waitlistees
At the installment of the new Bruin Club e-board, Dean of Admissions Jim Miller said our yield this year was quite high and that there may be as many as 60 students more than anticipated in this year's freshman class."

Quoted from the thread above by modestmelody

sigh...

Btw I know this probably wont matter any more due to the above situation, but did anyone receive a confirmation after sending in their waitlist reply card?

nope...and it is possible that there is a fall out from people getting off the waitlist at HYPSM, so nothing is out of the question yet

I agree with Czar212..

Brutus when you say she was "asked if she wanted to be on the waitlist" do you mean she was offered admission? Or that she was waitlisted but rejected a place on the waitlist and then was offered a place on the waitlist again on the phone??

im confused...

Hmm... my GC called today and they said they were still receiving reply cards and didn't know what their yield was yet. There was no mention of the over-yield modestmelody was talking about... so maybe that's a good sign? Or maybe the person my GC talked to didn't know very much. Anyways, they told her that they should know by early next week whether or not they will be going to their waitlist.

I called the admission office yesterday, they confirmed that the decision haven't been made yet, they're still checking the incoming students.

They confirmed that they haven't made what decision yet?

that this year's freshmen class is alreday full, and there are no value in waiting at all. I ask them if it's true, the assistant objected this assertation.

Like I said, we've had classes with far more students than expected in them that took kids off the wait list. It's based upon many things other than commitment cards, one of which is gap years, semesters off, students abroad, other school waitlists.

Another thing that was said yesterday is that we've attracted more Harvard co-admits than we have in years past, but no numbers at all were provided.

And of course, none of this was official.
