I<3Pi, my updates didn't show up either.

Notification, if any, will come after May 5th. Since acceptances have to be postmarked by May 1, they need to have time for the mail to arrive and then process the information. Most likely, they probably already know how many, if any, wait list spots they will have available and have already started the preliminary sorting out of candidates.

So which schools have you students out there chosen while waiting for Stanford? My S enrolled at UNC-Chapel Hill.

While waiting, I've enrolled at Boston College. Hope they give us some updates soon...

I enrolled at Cornell while waiting.

Thanks TheGirlsLoveMe, that's reassuring.

I enrolled at Columbia.

I enrolled at Berkeley (I know it's Stanford's rival) while waiting for Brown and Stanford.

Enrolled at wharton, waiting for hyps

yeah killakilla!!!! i'm heading off to boston college too. the waitlist was a pleasant surprise, considering my stats. lol

Hey, would Stanford ask your counselors about your 3rd quarter grades? Is it a possibility? Mine sucked so bad. =/

I enrolled at Pomona College.

If Harvard has reportedly taken students off of their wait lists (other ivy leagues have followed the trend, too), then is it possible that a school as selective as Stanford will resort to the same thing this year?

I'd like to think that but I don't think so because if the other schools are using their waitlist it means that some of their admitted students choose other schools over them...my fear is that they choose Stanford over those schools =(

killakilla you read my mind :(

Enrolled at Penn. Probably will go there even if I get off the Stanford waitlist because I basically set my mind there already :

Enrolled at Northwestern. Satisfied and not too optimistic about Stanford's waitlist.

so uh, aren't the waitlist people supposed to be notified today?

Well they said in May, but no ealier than May 5. So today was the earliest possible day. And now I heard that they're waiting for transfer replies before contacting waitlist people, if at all.

I had a chance to talk to one of Stanford admission officiers (Gloria Valdez, maybe I remembered her last name wrong?) when my son visited there the weekend of 25-26.

She said that Stanford WILL DEFINITELY take people off waitlist this year. She said this is based upon the matriculation rate they have received thus far, which is quite lower than last year's.

I hope this brings some good news...BTW, after a few agonizing days, my S decided on Princeton over Stanford. This helps too, yes?

I'm sure there are quite a number students who are cross-admitted chose other schools and left a number of spots open...

^Yes that is excellent news, I hope more people are like your son =)

Firstwonder, thanks for giving us all some hope.

I called today, and they said they'd begin to notify wait listed applicants on the 15th of May.

What I HATE is that I'm 95% set on my school, but it's the possibility of this that is looming over me.
