Should I want to do research/intern a bit during the school year, would that be possible in Pittsburgh?

Most of the part-time research jobs are on campus. Often they involve getting in touch with a professor.

Hmm, so not too many internships available, I suppose?
Would that go against you in grad school admissions or are research jobs in the university viewed the same as an internship in a company?

People intern during the summer, typically, not during the school year. Summer internship possibilities abound.

Different strokes for different folks. For a researched based graduate program, experience as a researcher is more important than an internship.

There's also the Research Center building.

I don't recommend interning during the school year. People who do that usually take an academic leave no matter what school you're going to.

Summer is a great opportunity to do so though.

Do you guys have any opinion on the Information Systems program and the MISM program [a 5-year masters in IS]? Do you know of people in it and how they like it?

Also, on their criteria of what they emphasize on the application... why do they look at reading so heavily for IS? Isn't it more about how well you do on math and CS?
