uyulove, ahh but last year the first leak posted that i read was bogus. and second leaked post, which was completely different, showed a camera phone pic of the page, which proved it was legit. when i see that is when i believe this ranking.

Haha that was me with the camera phone... I got the rankings like 3 days early- they were just sitting on a shelf at Barnes and Noble. Somehow, I don't think the employees at Barnes and Noble care as much about keeping the rankings secret as they do Harry Potter. ;)

Waiting for USNWR reminds me of the wait for harry potter books...

Um, on another site, this one person claims that he got this following list from someone who works for US News. The ranking is:

Princeton University

Yale University

Harvard University

California Institute of Technology

Stanford University

MIT

University of Pennsylvania

Duke University

Dartmouth College

Columbia University

Cornell University

University of Chicago

Washington University in St. Louis

Northwestern University

Johns Hopkins University

But isn't law school for graduate students. This ranking is for undergrad colleges.

this was posted on xoxo, and was largely dismissed as an incredible emory troll.

How about the LAC rankings?

**** this better not be the real thing!! Stanford ahead of Yale? Blah
[/quote]

By putting Stanford ahead of Yale, US NEWS has just shown they are getting more realistic and their ranking methodology is getting slitely better.

I can easily find 100 reasons that Stanford is better than Yale. Seriously.

I'm sure you can datalook. But a pro-Yale poster could find 100 reasons for the opposite. To imagine that there are significant objective differences between them that US News should be able to measure is ridiculous.

Ah but the real question is whether they can spell.

gasp
stanford over yale

how arbitrary! and how sublimely bad for the good old boys!

waaiiittt

there are 2 washingtons???

11 and #42

whaaaat is this?!

I think the REAL reason most people here care is...you feel better when your school of choice gets ranked slightly higher. That's what most people on CC look forward to anyway. Will (insert favorite school) beat (insert rival school) this year? Will it be in the top (insert random number)? It's entertainment really. Looking at the big picture though, the rankings hardly move from year to year and it doesn't REALLY matter.

You gotta be kidding me, hollyert.
11 = Washing University in St. Louis
42 = University of Washington

Spelling ability of graduates is clearly not among them. I mean I understand the occasional typo, but daaaaamn.

I miss being #4

USC in front of UCLA?? Damn the UC's and their affirmative action.

Why is Reed and swarthmore never in here??

I think Caltech is a stupid college, it doesnt deserve to beat Upenn or Columbia which are much more intelligent and superior colleges

This thread is xoxo fodder, fyi.

hth.

Might be because they're LACs and this is a ranking of universities.

^What are LACs? I need to know all these acronyms...
