Liberal Arts Colleges

I was looking through the old us news rankings today and was really shocked to see how 'low' the sat range was for some schools that I thought would be "tougher" to get into than the stats would make me believe. Two notables: Cornell and JHU. I always thought you needed like a 1500 (old sat) to even be competitive for either one?

1500? No that's too high for any University. THere are students in high school who can easily achieve top scores (2300+) but the only problem is, there's not ENOUGH of those to admit an entire class of 2300's, not to mention it's hard to decide how much a difference there is between a 2100 and a 2300.

the stats for the 2007 USNWR says it's from 2005. Hence the ('05) in the stats.

Seriously like I cannot believe you all take this so seriously it is quite amusing and besides you actually believe that this is real when there is quite the chance that this is fake I mean there are two different postings on the same US news rank leak thing and yet the rankings differ...hmmmm

The hell! Berkeley is way too low!

This. is. not. real.

Look at the other thread for USNWR. It's another fake one.

1500 (Old SAT) a minimum for Cornell and JHU??
No way.. keep dreaming!

CC and their endless obsession with rankings..Nothing comes out until the 17th.... so chill out until then...

Does this whole thing remind anyone else of Harry Potter, what with the leaks, the fake leaks, and oh, the obsession?

Cornell and JHU aren't as hard to get into as you would think.

i couldn't help but notice that folks are more concerned about rankings these days than before. When i was applying to colleges, cornell wasn't really that reputable, same with upenn and washu. If you are a ny state resident, the land grant schools are fairly easy to get into if u had a 1300+ SAT score. plenty of folks get in cornell even today, with 1200 sat scores.

a 1200 sat is way way below the 25th percentile for cornell. even for the land grants that seems far too low. while i dont doubt some people can get in with that score, saying plenty seems a bit unrealistic. its more like a very small number of people with a 1200 sat score get in. i imagine very very few.

OK guys, this post is definately wrong. I have the real rankings!
