Students applying as freshmen to Johns Hopkins using either the Common Application or the Universal College Application must also submit the Johns Hopkins Supplement and must submit two essays. Your first essay will be your submission of either one of the Common Application essay prompts or your response to the Universal College Application personal statement prompt, depending on which application method you select. Your second essay will be the following essay which is included as question #7 on the Johns Hopkins Supplement:

Write a brief essay in which you respond to the following question: Johns Hopkins offers 50 majors across the schools of Arts & Sciences and Engineering. On this application, we ask you to identify one of two that you might like to pursue here. Why did you choose the way you did? If you are undecided, why didn't you choose. (If any past courses or academic experiences influenced your decision, you may include them in your essay.)

with this change to our [essay] policies there has been a slight delay with the release of the Johns Hopkins Supplement. We expect the forms to be uploaded and available on the Common Application (CA) and Universal College Application (UCA) sites within the next two weeks (no later than September 15).
