Hey girls, anyone else applying EE and excited about it? I was just reading a thread from 2006 and I thought we should have our own thread this year.

I just submitted my app. yesterday and I'm really nervous... I also don't like the fact that it seems as though I'm going to be away when they send out the letters.

Spain! I'm doing an exchange and going to Oviedo (it's in the Northwest). So it'll be awesome, but I'll still be really anxious to get my letter.

I'm doing EE, too, but I haven't gotten my application out yet. It's pretty bad...

I've kind of been wondering...why wouldn't you do EE, if you at least know SOMETHING before the spring and the deadlines are the same as RD? Makes no sense to me. I mean, I'm nervous already and I haven't even sent my applications out.

LaMariposaAzul, the only reason I can think of not to do EE is the deadline. It's a stupid reason, though. A friend of mine is also applying to Wellesley, but she's a procrastinator and a mess. She's planning out her night of December 31st with time slots for applications... anyway, that's not the point. She's not organized, so she won't be able to get Wellesley done until the 15th. She'll take all of the 1/15 deadlines she can get.

P.S.
I'm sure it's fine if you haven't gotten your appication out yet. Extra time to think about the why Wellesley question!

My daughter (who plans to apply EE) also wondered how there could be a downside to EE. The only thing that we could think of would be the requirement that EE applicants have their school send in first term grades. If a student takes a while to "adjust" to a new school year (and has poor first term grades), she may prefer to apply RD so that Wellesley sees second-term grades (presumably higher) in addition to the poor first-term grades.

momof3greatkids, I'm a current Wellesley parent. I remember faxing my D's first semester transcripts to Wellesley before the EE decision deadline. I do not recall if they needed her mid-semester progress report, since that was handled by her school. Probably, they did. It is getting the semester grades to Wellesley on time we had to worry about, since at D's school, the first semester ended on January 31, and Wellesley needed the grades to make EE decisions. So Wellesley did see both grade sets.

Yes, I can't imagine that they only see first quarter for EE, because there's definitely enough time to get second quarter grades to Wellesley and for them to look them over by February.

I think it's so great that they have EE. I think it really speaks to how organized they are. I've found that they're the most organized out of all the schools I'm applying to, and they're the best in terms of communication with me.

I'm thinking of doing Early Evaluation as well...but I was wondering, how reliable are the decisions? Like, if they say likely is there still a chance you'll get rejected, or are you almost certainly in? I'd hate to think I was in somewhere in February, only to get a rejection from the same place in April...

The admissions officer who came to my school said that if you get a likely, there's a 99% chance that you're in, but you have to watch your grades and make sure they don't fall. I'm pretty sure that they have the mid-year grades to evaluate you by, though, so I guess you're pretty much definitely in if you get a likely.
