No worries, east. I take pride in my EC’s/essay more so than my gpa.

I applied to the Tisch Center Hospitality Programs. They are ranked among the best for hospitality management. The 2nd smallest school in NYU, they hold an acceptance rate for about 24%. I’m not really sure about any other school, is the rate similar?

Rejected with a 4.0 GPA?? Damn…
hdgking71 it sucks but don’t depress about it too much. What semester are you completing in Penn State? Did they ask for your Midterm grades?

What if someone has a high college gpa, 50/50 mixture of difficult and easier classes (some of the easier ones were required) and a mediocre high school record (3.1)? Would the easier classes really bring down their chances dramatically?

Also, are courses’ difficulties established simply based upon their course number or are there other factors as well?

Omg is the decision already coming out? How do some people here know whether they are rejected or not? I virtually got no mails from NYU after the initial “activation” email. Do I need to call them?

Darealsha, do we have prerequisites for NYU? I mean… for which major? I’m applying for Stern, and even though there are “recommended courses,” I found no prerecs in NYU hompeage.

hdgking71, by the way how many units have you completed? and sorry again :(

hmm Youch, this is from NYU website ([NYU > Undergraduate Admissions > Applying for Admission > Transfer Applicants > Special Program Requirements](<a href=“How to Apply”>How to Apply))

“Applicants for transfer admission should have completed (or be in the process of completing) the following courses in order to receive serious consideration for admission: microeconomics, calculus, expository writing, and introductory accounting (a combination of managerial accounting and financial accounting totaling at least 6 semester hours).”

So i am guessing those courses are what you need to complete @_@?

I’m referring to: [NYU > Undergraduate Admissions > Applying for Admission > Transfer Applicants > Special Program Requirements](<a href=“How to Apply”>How to Apply). The wording is kind of weird, it just says “should have completed”. I do know that there were people in the previous years who got in without these courses, but most of these people could not finish these classes because of their school’s program. It still seemed you were better off having completed these.

Vnmike and Darealsah, thanks for the link. I took note of those courses some months, or perhaps one year ago when I started to visit the NYU homepage. But then they weren’t required courses; they were simply recommended courses for Stern applicants, as far as I remember.

Fortunately I was able to take those (now) required courses, plus 9 semester hours of finance and 6 semester hours of stat classes. But I doubt they’ll ever count.

… “And since the level of admission competition for Stern Business School is very high, our most competent candidates usually complete the Micro, Calculus, Writing and two Accountings by the time of transfer…” or something along these lines I remember. I guess they want to screen out some “less competent” candidates by setting the requirements, even though I’m not totally sure whether it’s a good idea or not.

sooo i just called to check on the status of my application, and i could’ve sworn the lady said no decision has been made (unless i misheard her or she didn’t know what she was talking about). then why can i get a netid and log into email, etc.?
what’s going on >.>

Vnmike, I called the admissions office and they told me unless I got the call or email from them, I don’t need to send any extra materials. So I didn’t send my mid-term results.
