2009 Fall Transfer To NYU

Thanks =).

Since I’m able to login with my NetID (I even have my own email), I think I’ve been accepted to Stern. I guess I’ll wait for the mail arrive.

Congrats! Stern is impossible to get into so that is amazing!

OMG OMG! i’m in,i’m in!!! i just got the UPS express mail package a little while ago…wow!!!

Accepted with a 3.8 GPA into steinhardt (hoping to pick up a second major in CAS in poli sci or economics)

I am so hyperventilating right now and my heart is gonna explode through my chest after dancing around with my acceptance packet! :smiley:

goodluck to u guys!

@melyssa

a) transfers don’t get put into LSP.
b) that’s a huge assumption to make about LSP and it’s entirely wrong. there are people that like LSP and you have some choice of classes. albeit a restricted choice, but a choice.

Lol Rory - I think I would do the same if I got an acceptance (stern). I just hope I don’t jump out of the window out of excitment…but if i do, it’s ok…I live on the first floor! ahaha.
I didn’t think they send it via UPS. Everyone has said they got there acceptances through first class mail

Clint what’s your stats

Congrats Melissa on getting into Gallatin. Hope to see you at orientation.

Didn’t list everything but that’s most of it.

clint, well done, did you apply for junior or sophomore year? when, and how did you hear from them?

So I was able to create my NyU net ID and set up NYU home.
I’ve heard a lot of things, what exactly does this indicate?
Am I in???

clint, also what major are you doing?

I’ll be a mid-sophmore in the Fall '09 and I’m assuming that I’ve accepted because I’m able to log-in to my NYU homepage with my NetID and I have a NYU e-mail.

@nyuberktransfer
I think so.

NOTE: For people using the NetID method, use your University ID instead of your SSN because you may have not given NYU your SSN when you submitted your application.

I’m majoring in Finance but I might double major in Finance & Accounting or Finance & Mathematics.

Does anyone else have a problem with the grade request process?

My girlfriend was asked for grade requests in late april. she had a 3.3 at the time from a top-100 university and the grade requests benefited her because she worked hard and pulled it up to around a 3.5. prior to the grade request, she was at 14 credits. after the grade request, she was at 30. she was accepted into Gallatin, which is great, but I was curious about the process of this…

I understand that NYU pays a lot less attention to your high school stats if you have 30+ credits. I applied to CAS from the same top-100 university. I had a 3.6 after my first semester after taking 17 credits. She got her grade request and I never got mine. At the end of the second semester, I did not raise above a 3.6 but remained the same, which in my eyes is still a good quality to show NYU coming from a university that is not too far from them in terms of academics. I also completed 15 more credits, bringing my total to 32 credits. My grades were just finalized yesterday, so I had no opportunity to submit them before NYU’s reviewing process.

My question is, would you consider it unfair that certain people are given the opportunity to respond to grade requests and other people are not, just based on the time their application is reviewed? My girlfriend’s app was reviewed early and she already got her decision, whereas I haven’t heard from CAS even once after they gave me my University ID number after applying in mid-March. I would send it in right now, but knowing the unreliability of my former school it would not get there until 2+ weeks had passed and NYU’s rather unjustified decision had been made. If they decided to look at my app in late April as opposed to mid or late May, my chances would have undoubtedly been higher.

I just wish I was given the opportunity to send in a final grade report, but because they haven’t even looked at my app yet for some reason, I am denied of that privilege.

I just don’t believe that their tardiness should be a detriment to my personal application.

Yes!
Accepted to CAS
College GPA: 3.82 with 27 credits, also sent in midterm report which had straight A’s while currently taking 16 credits.
High school GPA: 3.4 with early graduation
ACT: 31
EC’s: Varsity soccer at a top 25 division one program, started a bible study for varsity athlete, work trip to the dominican republic for one summer, peer mentoring for an abistinence group

patriot- Were you asked to send in a midterm grade report or did you just decide to? Just wondering. Thanks!

they didn’t ask I just decided to because I thought it would help because of my straight A’s.

So I applied to NYU as a transfer and I have heard nothing back yet other than a confirmation of them receiving my app. Is this common because I briefly looked through the thread and it looks like a lot of people have heard back.
I didn’t even get a University ID, do people who use common app not get these?

they apparently still have some to go through, but a lot of people are already getting off wait lists so if you haven’t heard back by now and/or can’t access your netid then it’s probably bad news. when they admit people on the wait list before they’re finished with apps from people that haven’t even heard anything yet, it seems unjust to people that submitted their apps on time but don’t get looked at until most of the class has already been accepted. whatever though… not like my griping is doing anything

i’m unfortunately in the same situation. i try to remain optimistic, but it’s difficult to considering the circumstances

Wait, who said that people are already getting off of waiting lists?

I don’t think that is true. I have not heard of ANY colleges that takes people off the waitlist before reviewing all the apps. That is just morally unethical. My friend who is at NYU Stern now had to wait till early june until he got his acceptance. He went to Baruch. I am a current freshman that applied for NYU Stern and I am also anxiously awaiting my response as well. I really doubt “many” people if any are getting off the waitlist before they even consider applicants.
