2009 Fall Transfer to UCLA - Chance Me!

Hi,

I'm a sophomore UNDERGRAD, Mass Media Communications major at NYU, transfering to UCLA for Communications in pursuit of my career as a host for a major entertainment channel. Would anyone care to chance me?

I have 2 concerns:

1) When I first applied to UCLA as a senior, I did not get in. Is my GPA at NYU good enough now and my EC's strong enough?

2) I plan to take Spring semester off mainly because of economic issues at home. I will have 72 credits by the end of Sophmore fall semester. I'm also working more next semester, taking on more hosting jobs and small roles in shows, etc. Do you think this would jeopardize my chance of getting into ucla?

Any advice would be great!!

honestly, you have a pretty low chance

why's that? my gpa or not enough activities

does ucla have a strong communications department?

You're OOS + transfer. Apply anyway, and hope for the best.

ya if i don't get into UCLA or USC, I'm probably sticking it out with NYU. NYC's not that bad for mass media. Personally, I know my GPA might be a little below average, but NYU is almost up UCLA's alley, perhaps even more competitive when it comes to Communications. I can't imagine UCLA turning down a soph in college who's tv hosted at the VMAs, interviewed kanye west, arnold, etc, with my list of activities. Who knows, maybe some state schools care that much more about a slightly better GPA than a kid who's develped conceptual skills through real-life work experience.

I'm actually an in-state student, but went to NYU for college.

Are there any celebrities at UCLA?

ucla has a strong program.
reasons
1)out of state
2)below average GPA
3)impacted major
