i applied to UCLA, what about the school inspired you to want to leave?

No offense, but from my painful experience, I must say that Ucla sucks. Of course, I totally understand that a LOT of people love this school. And in fact, most people around me enjoy this school, which makes me feel very lonely.
There are many reason why I decide to transfer (btw I am a first year), I am not going to describe in details. But one main reason is that I had very bad roomates this year, drug, alcohol, sex, etc… They represent the typical “immature arseholes” that populate this campus. Aside from that, I just don’t enjoy the academic or social life here. It will take pages for me to summarize my painful life here, but in short I just want to switch to an environment that is academically focused and relatively conservative in terms of “wildness.” East Coast Ivy League are the perfecy choices for me, but I recognize that my stats are not that outstanding, so I probably don’t have hope for Dartmouth.
In conclusion, I must get out of this school by next school year. I am really determined. I don’t know what I would do if all the schools I applied rejected me. Probably drop school?

oooh… i’m 32 and have been told that dartmouth is a bit of a party school. not sure if that matters to you.

where else did you apply? and don’t drop school… again, i’m 32 and can say that having a degree at 22 would have been preferred.

I also applied to Cornell, Brown, Penn and Chicago. I don’t expect to get in Dartmouth due to its competition; I will be happy to go to Cornell if they take me.
I visited Cornell and Brown during Spring Break, and no matter how many parties they have, Ivy League schools are just not as “wild” as my current school.

Dartmouth is expecting a higher freshmen yield, not so good for transfers:

not good for transfers at all. thanks for the link.

::sigh:: I’ll be getting the Johnnie Walker Black ready for a depressing May.

Stewart if I may ask what is provoking you to transfer out of Tulane? I plan on attending in the Fall and I was curious.

Sure thing, Emory. Give me a PM with some questions, I’ll be glad to help you out if I can.

i must say, i think dartmouth’s practice of having a peer evaluation instead of some other essay is quite interesting. was just reflecting on all my apps and this popped into my head.

Totally agree with you, Ilivefree. Although it’s not required I think it certainly helps to submit it - and give them a different look at you. Such a great school. <3

totally. i think two of my friends submitted one. i asked them both and didn’t expect them to both be able to do it (figured one might flake; they’re both VERY busy). i wonder if they’ll just read the first one that arrived.

They consider all supplement materials - and I really do believe they read every piece of pertinent information that comes in there (I am extremely bias with Dartmouth - they can do no wrong). I called the other day and the woman (who knows me very well from last year’s waitlist fun
lol) named off all of the documents in my folder - so they’re in there. Certainly another recommendation can’t hurt, Ilivefree.

yay! thanks mate!

Johnny Walker Black? From what DS tells me the drinks of choice at Dartmouth involve grain alcohol and Keystone!

LOL! Hmom, I’ll be sure to switch it up if I get accepted.

keystone sounds good… i like cheap beer.

if i may ask, why do you want out of tulane? only asking b/c im probably going there next yr

mm so far nothing… just cornell decisions out and possibly uchicago… boo hoo. waiting on dartmouth!

It’s probably going to be a while, right? Mid May is what I remember hearing.
