2009 PSAT Scores and Discussion

I just know i didn’t choose that answer. i know it was improving paragraph but forgot question.

To the best of my memory (maybe I’ve unconsciously employed some repression here), the question asked what the best substitute was for a phrase in one of the sentences from the paragraph. One of the other choices had to do with “literally” doing something.

The sentence, I think, had something to do with conceptual filing cabinets of the mind.

o thx, haha im dumb i put literally which doesn’t even make sense.

silverturtle, did you take the W or S form?

What’s with the lack of Form S results?

open ended question Form S, i cant read or trace how i got my answer, any1 care to help?

36. IF x/y=3/4 and x/z=1/8 then y/z=?

College - Is the answer 1/6? I solved the first equation for y (y=4x/3) and the second equation for z (z=8x). Then substitute and you end up with (4x/3)/8x. This works out to 1/6.

I got 1/6 as well :)

My school had our PSAT results since yesterday, but they’re purposely withholding them till next Monday :(.

^That sucks. My school still hasn’t gotten the results yet.

Quit crying runningonempty…I don’t have my results and won’t be getting them before Monday, but I’m sure my school has them.

I received mine today. 229 overall.
Critical reading = 77 = 2 wrong = 99 percentile
Math = 79 = 1 wrong = 99 percentile
Writing = 73 = 2 wrong = 99 percentile

Edit: This was Wednesday by the way

yeah its 1/6, wow it was that simple lol

So can we safely say that the “explanation of/for” question was really NE? If it was, YES!!

CR -2, M -1, W -1. I thought I’d missed more Writing questions on account of the heated debates in this forum, but now this is set in stone.

Wow, asti21, that is a pretty generous math curve. Even though I haven’t received my scores yet, I’ll try to see what mine will come out to be:

77 CR + 79 M + 77 W = 233 overall? YAY!! :smiley: :D

Seems like the writing curve was pretty harsh this year, but I love the generous math curve.

“So can we safely say that the “explanation of/for” question was really NE? If it was, YES!!”

According to the College Board, there was no error. I disagree, however.

“silverturtle, did you take the W or S form?”

I took Form W.

Yeah the math curve is surprisingly very generous.

If public schools tend to take Form S and private schools Form W (at least that’s how it mostly worked in our county), it seems like private schools release the scores earlier.

Form W may have the most generous Math curve ever. It is significantly more generous than any since 2005.

I am really bummed that -2 on Writing is 73. That’s a below average curve (the range is 72-78; average is 74). I was hoping for 75.
