If you have already received this years test scores, could you identify the STATE you live in and your scores?

Maryland…I got a 230

213 … Missouri

I guess I just fail at life…

My son #2 just got his psat score (234). He goes to a boarding school and just called us. We are obviously pleased.

Good luck to you all 2011ers!

What do you predict the California cut off will be? I heard somewhere on this forum that the cutoff would be lower (compared with last year’s 218), but I heard from someone on yahoo answers that it would be higher (220).

In general, where do you predict cut off scores will go?

I got a 213 and I’m in Michigan. I’m right around where the cut-off was last year, so I’m crossing my fingers that I get named a Merit scholar. Not for the scholarships, more because I need some awards to flesh out my apps, lol.

DS got a 216 in Ohio. That should be semi-finalist for OH.

212 in Nebraska!

230 in NY.
80CR, 80M, 70W.

Anyone else get screwed by the writing curve? That 70 translates to 2 questions wrong.
2 wrong on the entire PSAT = 230? ********.

My DD got a 213 in Oregon. That was the same score as the cut-off for the past 3 years. Fingers crossed.

Benno- writing hit me hard, too. Does anyone know why each writing question was worth 5 points? Doesn’t that mean if I’d gotten them all wrong I’d have gotten a negative number? I thought the lowest you could receive was a 20.

Anyways, I got 224 in PA, so hopefully that meets National Merit. 74 CR, 80 M, 70 W…even though I missed more Reading questions than Writing.

I got a 214 in Pennsylvania.

Do you think I made Semi-Finalist? It’s really border-line I think.

I also got screwed over by writing curve.

74 CR (3 wrong), 75 M (2 wrong), 65 W (4 Wrong)

If you get 99 percentile do you get Semi-Finalist?

I really want to get it…ugh if just got 1 more right :(

fail fail fail …
my life is fail…
i got the lowest score at my grade
even lower than my soph year score
fail

I hope that would be a good indicator of my actual SAT score. Outside the United States. 70 writing as well, but I got 3 wrong instead.

March10success2 - please do not consider one test will fail you, and believe me, it will not. The curve on the PSAT is very wild and it could swing you in a big way.

But I have seen some students who did not do well on PSAT and ended up with Ivy League colleges. You will have chances to take SAT or ACT, thus there is plenty you can do and your fate is in your hands.

In terms of scoring lower than soph year, you will not be alone (believe me). My son #2 recently took SAT as junior and he scored lower on two of the three subscores than freshmen year from 2 years ago. I guess he did not prepare well this time and he plans to retake it.

I wish you good luck…

Michigan - score of 212, last year’s cut off was 209 - hoping for semi-finalist!

215 North Carolina

230 in Iowa. :)

Got a 218 in Texas. No clue if this will be high enough…
