DS is in top 3% in New York with a 219. Just found out yesterday from principal. Anybody else? Guess we’ll have to wait till Sept to know for sure if this year’s cutoff will be 218, or 219, or ???

Excuse my ignorance, but to what letters is everyone referring?

D’s counselor gave her the letter yesterday dated 4/13/10. The heading had our address, but it was sent to school. “Your Selection Index score on the 2009 PSAT/NMSQT places you among the highest-scoring 50,000 students of some 1.5 million who entered…” Letter goes on to say “We will notify Semifinalists and Commended Students of their standing in September 2010 through their high schools.”

California, 169 as a freshman.

heh… I came in to school stoned the day of the test and got a 198. I’m from /north carolina.

Doesn’t National Merit employ a ten-point score increase for those who indicate their having been stoned on test day, in order to compensate for ■■■■■■■■ mental capability and encourage fair representation (analogous to the geographical “corrections”)? Or maybe I’m misremembering.

^ LOL 10char

^^No, that sounds about right

^ I looked it up; I was close. Here is the exact wording from [National Merit Scholarship Corporation - NMSP](http://www.nationalmerit.org/nmsp.php):

^Haha, thanks for clearing that up

I got my letter Friday in Alaska, but I can’t find it right now. Do I need to take any action at this point, or do I just wait?

Awsome, maybe I would qualify then. Though, I don’t believe that consumption of canibis constitutes mental retardation.

187 - pennsylvania
92nd percentile but i feel so stupid on this site :'(

So angry. 206, WI. CR: 74 M: 64 W: 68

It’s my fault, I guess–I knew reading was my worst section so I studied vocab and reading strategies hard, and forgot about everything else.

My score as a sophomore was 204…CR: 64 M: 67 W: 73.

Eh. WI cutoff was 207 last year. Maybe it’ll go down a point? lol.

D got her letter at school today. :)

Just got my letter at school today! Will probably qualify as an NMSF – I logged onto the website and chose UChicago and UC Berkeley as my two schools. My reasoning was that since my reach schools (Harvard, Columbia, Stanford) get so many outstanding applicants annually, they probably wouldn’t think much of it at all. I thought that Chicago and UCB might care at least a little about it, lol. Plus, I’d have a hard time choosing two out of my three reaches, so I just went for both my match schools :P

Well, since this is public, I highly doubt anyone with a score lower than 200 will post it, so if you are trying to compare, you will get a lousy comparison if you did bad, or an average one if you were smart. But to prove myself wrong, I got a 192 and CA.

231, NY

sadly my SAT scores didn’t match up

Still no letter.

^Yeah I have not either
