I got a letter today saying I was awarded the Arrupe Scholarship. It is worth $15,400/yr. The formal notification will come out in January. I am extremely excited :). Anyone else receive anything?

I got a letter today too that says I was awarded an Arrupe scholarship but is says its worth 13,100. Does everyone get a different value? Does this mean I'm not eligible for that weekend for competing for Presidential and Trustee scholarships?

By any chance do you attend a Jesuit school?

And congratulations btw!!!

No I don't attend a Jesuit school. I go to a public school.

Also don't get worried about the amount of the scholarship. Receiving one is an accomplishment in itself. Congrats Sarah2009 on the scholarship!

I got a scholarship letter too, only $8300 per year for 4 years. do you mind sharing your SAT and GPA's so I know if I can negotiate. I was 1970 SAT and 3.87 GPA. thanks

GPA is 3.8UW and 1330 SAT. Don't know if I received more because my major is accounting.

Well you all beat me by far, I got awarded just a lousy $1,400 a year through the 'Achievement Scholarship.' My GPA isn't terrible, a 3.59 unweighted, but not good enough for the big money obviously. The sad part is that I can't afford LMU without at least $15,000. So I guess it's not looking too good for me. (and I can't get anything off of need based aid either, my parents make too much but still not enough to afford LMU every year without a lot of help).

Just got my letter - I was offered an Arrupe Scholarship of $19,500 (renewable for four years). I was excited, but then I remembered that the total cost for attending there (including tuition, room and board, and books/fees) is nearly $50,000. So, basically, I still can't afford to go to LMU. Don't get me wrong, though - I'm still very excited and proud, just a little disappointed at how much college costs!

Also, does anyone know when they notify students selected to compete at Presidential Preview Weekend in February? Do they notify students when they send out scholarship information, or does the invitation come later on?

Congratulations everyone on being accepted and receiving scholarships!

It seems odd that the Arrupe Scholarship are all for different amounts ,both in the posts here and the information on the L.M.U. website. Did any Arrupe Scholarship recipients from previous years have the same experience?

What are your stats? 19,500 is amazing!!

Thanks! My stats are:
SAT: CR 700, M 640, W 740
ACT: 31, Essay 11
GPA: Unweighted 3.958; Weighted: 4.329
Class Rank: 2/185
AP tests - US History 4, English Language/Comp. 5

Other info: I've taken the most difficult classes offered at my school every year (we don't have as many APs as other schools have because we are a rather small school). I have tons of leadership and some unique extra-curricular activities and awards. I also had very good teacher recommendations and essays.

$4,000 per year Achievement Scholarship

I got the Arrupe Award for $16,000/year.

I don't see how they could give a Arrupe Scholarship for $19,500 when the Presidential Scholarship awarded in February is only $17,000?

They must have increased the Arrupe amounts because I received $18,700 per.

$6,000 per year Achievement Scholarship
congrats to you all!

So the highest they give is just under 20k? Which brings total COA to around 50k.

emorylover, what does the Achievement Scholarship mean? Did you have to do something to get it? Could you post your stats, if you don't mind :) Thank you

What does this mean? For those of you who have received scholarships did you receive this as well?
