Good Luck Coolant!

Successful nyu transfer here.. i know was overwhelmed like you guys are, so if you need help/advice feel free to ask q's
good luck

im handing in my application early next week! Ahh im so nervous, I want this so bad!!

Thanks Love3qualsHate =)

NYU9090:

How long will it take for an admission decision to be released? Also, does Gallatin place more emphasis on the "personal statement" or "grades"?

Well... I applied for fall '08 so it was a little different (because we had the summer.) I would say you will hear mid to late november/early december at the latest (maybe if they need your final grades, etc.)?? It also depends on what school you apply to, because I remember other schools started to release decisions before mine.

I'm not sure about the Gallatin question; but don't apply to Gallatin for the wrong reasons (ie, you think its easier to get in) because a. its probably not, and b. they will know.

But generally, grades are very important to the admissions process.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask. NYU is amazing! Good luck

I really want to attend NYU (dying for NYU). The reason I am applying to Gallatin is because I want to design my own major and besides I am sick of being bound to a traditional four year curriculum. Gallatin offers the flexibility to design your own "curriculum" .

Which undergraduate college did you apply to?

Also, what are your stats? Do you mind sharing?

I am applying to NYU cas for fall 2009 transfer admissions. I am a freshman at St. Johns University in Queens New York. H.S. gpa= 78% (2.5 gpa?) sat=will retake looking for overall score of 1900+ CR440 M530 W530. Projected college gpa=at least 3.6, for both semesters. I have been a violinist all my life, served as concertmaster for a number of orchestras, african american, and a member of model united nations at my current university. Anyone care to offer advice to me? Also, should I take two subject tests like freshman? Would it help that I actually go to NYU so they have a face to the application? I am also submitting arts sample in which I feel I sound good (violin) but will that help?

You are not required to retake the SATs.

Transfer Admissions - Forum Powered by eve community

They don't accept SAT retakes from college years. I'm guessing you should take the subject tests since you are still in the process of completing your first year. What are you majoring in anyway?

Anyone that have a clue please help...

Will it be a good advice that I also apply to the NYU’s School of Continuous and Professional Studies (SCPS)? The SCPS uses a separate application.
They do offer a BA degree in Marketing Management. If I graduate NYU under this program, will I be “treated” the same as a student from NYU Stern (I mean in the work field)? Is there a possibility that I will be “looked down?”

Thanks

I have another question. Sorry to anyone that finds me annoying.

How's the business program's quality at Syracuse and Binghamton? Is it worth the out state tuition?

I am finding back ups if I am not admitted into NYU this coming spring.

Thanks! =)

Coolant (and others)

It seems like your reasons for applying to Gallatin are solid. Good luck! I had around a 3.8ish gpa and I honestly forget my HS gpa, but it was aroud 3.4 maybe lower. I applied to Steinhardt. (which was the school that had my major)

The admissions representatives advise transfer students to NOT retake the sats (including subject tests.)

I don't think NYU Stern and the business schools at Binghamton or SU compare (according to rank.) But people.... trust me.... the rank isn't everything. GO where you will thrive and enjoy the next 3-4 years.

I will thrive and enjoy @ NYU. =)
Thanks for all your help NYU9090.

Of course. I was just as nervous and excited as you guys are. So just work hard!

ahh i am so nervous and now thoroughly confused. I took the SAT once in hs- it was absolutely awful. I was in a TOTALLY different point in my life. Now, I'm applying as a transfer -to cas- with 41 completed credits. I retook the ACT this year and have a 27 composite superscored...I did really well in english and reading and poorly in math and science. When I called NYU they said they probably wouldn't take my standardized testing into account b/c of all my credits...I'm going to call again. Basically, my question is, to the best of your knowledge, do you think NYU will consider these scores from this year?

also... with a 3.95 college gpa and 2.6 hs and professional ballet background/ my dad is adjunct at tisch...how do you think i will fare? Sorry, for being annoying...i'm just nervous!

Rcl268, you are not along!
We are all on the same boat. NYU reps told me at the information session that they will not factor your SAT scores into the admission decision process.
Your college GPA is probably the “decisive” element of the admission decision. You have a high change of getting into CAS.

Good luck!
