2010 Application Information

In general when do the schools start posting application dates/deadlines and audition dates/deadlines? We are trying to keep a log, figure out which ones require us to go to the school itself for auditions, which ones can be done at unifieds etc. But most of the info on the websites for the colleges is old. Any insight from this great group would be helpful.

OMG I need this answer too!

I think you will find some schools have already posted information. My DD is keeping an eye on the school websites she is interested in this summer to see when they post their dates. I think that all the schools are different.

The Common Application is now up and available. Nine of the schools on my D’s list are on the Common Application so that is nice. She also applied to Otterbein via their website. At least for now the Otterbein application fee is waived so it didn’t cost anything to apply.

Most schools hold auditions the same week-ends year to yeaer though the date changes so last year’s dates are a good “rough” idea until dates are posted soon. Hope this helps.

Dates for 2010 Unifieds are posted as well on that website. There is also a list of participating programs.

Unified site with dates:
[National Unified Auditions](http://www.unifiedauditions.com/)

Some other schools go around the same time- check individual schol sites for more info.

Also if you are on a school’s email list (from visiting their site or in person) they will most likely let you know when their new info is up on the site. It seems like we just got a notice from one college letting us know their new info and app would be up the first of August. IU Bloomington already has current info on their site as do a few others we’ve looked at.

ttmom is right that most schools tend to use the same weekends for auditions every year, so you should be able to get an idea what dates will be available for your chosen schools. And there’s plenty of info about the school’s policies that don’t change much. Such as whether you need to apply to admission to the college before you apply for an audition date (or at the same time), do you need letters of recommendation, references, an essay? All this stuff is good to find out ahead especially if you plan to apply early to get the audition date you want.

We already have folders with a checklist sheet for each college my D plans to apply/audition to. The checklist for each school helps keep us organized, since each one is a little different. Good luck!

You’ll find most of us gearing up around now. As it has been stated, most schools do things around the same time each year. For specifics, though, those things are posted over the next five weeks on most sites.

Good luck.
