Harvard: Former U.S. Supreme Court Justice David H. Souter '61

ROFL … we were just talking about him today at work & agreed that he seems like he would be excruciatingly boring. (Sandra Day O’Connor spoke at my place of work today, which is why the subject came up - and for the record, she was NOT boring!)

Vanderbilt’s graduation speaker is Khaled Hosseini (Kite Runner). Their speakers actually speak the day before at the senior assembly … graduation focuses on the grads. D is a junior but hopes she can get in to see him speak.

Good choice by Vanderbilt! The Kite Runner was the summer reading for my freshman year, and Khaled Hosseini came to speak. I enjoyed it a great deal (unlike the book :().

woody- re Nancy Pelosi at Cornell… when I graduated and always before that, the President of the University gave the commencement address. Other speakers did other presentations during graduation weekend. There were also not any honorary degrees awarded. Has this changed also?

jackief: I stand corrected. Pelosi will speak at Senior Convocation - not commencement. However, in the spirit of this thread, may I say she is the “Speaker” for graduation weekend? (Get it?, “Speaker” etc… HAHA!)
I don’t know about honorary degrees/awards…

I too am jealous of Smith. I updated the list and added CWRU and RIT.
