haha no kiddin i second that. i had to do a prep year and without my computer/myspace/facebook i think i would have killed myself. trust me all day military like without a break is hell

word of advice

when you post pictures on myspace/xanga/facebook etc...its the property of that site. its not your property once you post it. so, make sure you don't post pictures of being drunk and what not....you never know what might happen. gosh i sound like a mom....sorry

word of advice II - agree with james2010 - cadets at WP have gotten hours for pictures found on Facebook and MySpace.

As for webcams, sounds like too much trouble to me - plus you'd be violating your roommates privacy by having it set up in your room. Not even sure the network at WP would permit streaming video out.

Also for facebook/myspace/etc...make sure FRIENDS don't have any pictures of you that are compromising either.

My high school expelled quite a few people over their myspaces. Apparently one picture of a kid with a school uniform and a marajuana cigarette ended up on myspace, the local new got it, and there was a huge crackdown. Suspensions for any school clothing, mentioning the school in your posts. Expulsions for photographs with alcohol and drugs whether or not you wre in uniforms. Posting negatives comments about the school and/or individual students and teachers would results in suspension or expulsion depeding on the severity of the offense.

I always found the stuff to be a waste of time. For you and your 2000+ friends that you may have never met.

whatever dude, myspace/facebook is an escape from the bs of military school. EMBRACE IT.

Haha, you convinced me, okay.

I personally hate myspace. However, facebook can really be nice to have. Especially when you realize you don't have a friend's phone number for whatever reason, or a call just isn't possible. I know it will really help me keep in touch with my closest friends. Sometimes a quick 1 minute note is all you need instead of a 10 min email.

Yes i totally agree myspace can be a little creepy because you can just look at anyones stuff. Facebook you have to know the person to be able to look at their stuff. Also I know about the picture thing I made sure there were none of me accessable through my pages.

expelled for pictures on myspace??? you must have gone to a private school

kids got suspended at my (public) school for photos of drinking underage while putting our school name on their page

total side note: I hate not having my (USNA) college email yet to combine my facebook accounts!!

haha i already have mine from prep school

i'd proabbly rather use the prep school one so that admin at the academy can't see my profile to get me in trouble for stupid pictures

why would you want to have midshipmen able to see who you are before you get there? That's almost asking to be hazed!

haha exactly that's why im keeping my prep school one

USAFA's getting some sweet Gateway tablet PC's :).

i don't know dude west points computers are pretty good........i just hope we can eventually bring our own computers because i like mine better that the academies

I love the USAFA one already. I'll make sure to let yall know how taking notes on it is. I hope the pens work well.

my math teacher had one of those and i know it worked well for like math notes and stuff like that

Gateways seem to be substandard even with the same exact specs. I've never really confirmed why, but they seem to break more than Dells do. I have never had hardware failure on either of my Dells but everyone I know with a Gateway has a sound card blow or fan stop working. In one case their motherboard got fried and it wasn't covered by the warrantee for god knows what reason. Oh yeah, they installed a RAM chip bought from Gateway! (Opening the computer voided any and all warrantees!)

Actually this guy I used to work on his computer (When I was 14 or so) had a Dell 8100 and he his hard drive caught on fire or something and actually melted the case. Dell had a new computer shipped to him overnight.
