2010 CSU Transfers

As we all already know, because of the California budget cuts, all CSU campuses were forced to not accept SPRING 2010 applications BUT...

What do you guys think the chances are for them to over-turn this decision is? If so, will it be in time to apply for Spring 2010 admission?

Doubt there’s much of a chance of overturning. Just received a list of CSU classes that are under subscribed. The department is asking anyone in the major to add classes fast. It looks like the teachers teaching those classes will probably be let go, so by the time spring comes not only will there be less students, there will also be less teachers. Can’t see how they can turn this around in just a couple of months in order to add students. This is spooky. Big hint - there’s schools outside of California.

Hey andrew1234, I seriously hope they overturn the decision when the budget is announced. I honestly think they should at least allow upperdivision transfer students who completed a majority of their transfer requirements rather than the community college students who want to transfer after one year who don’t have most of the GE completed. Why halt the progress of students who are eligible for upper division transfer?

Let me put it to you this way. If CSU screwed you over for spring transfer, what do you think the chances are they will screw you over for next fall?

Yeah. I’m looking out of state. Not just for spring, but for the long term.

UNLV, Arizona State (Tempe) look like substitutes for SoCal campuses.
UW (Seattle) looks like a substitute for NoCal campuses.

Those of you who wanted a remote small-town CSU, there are tons of itty-bitty cities for you.

Anyone got any other ideas??

Its not getting better.

CSU fees raised - $1,000 more than last year

Hm…I’m applying to several CSUs as an OOS. Anyone want to shed some light on any of the following campuses? Fullerton, LA, and Long Beach

CSULA invented the solar powered car, however its just in a bad location. Good school though, Jaime escalante went there.

The location definitely isn’t what dreams are made of but its also fairly convenient to where I’ll be living. What else can you tell me about LA or the others? Any bad things to warn me about?

TheGoldFinch: all 23 CSU campuses are not accepting any new applications. though i did hear that there are a few exceptions, but they haven’t said what they were. you might wanna give the campuses your applying to a call, just like i am.

I’m applying for Fall '10. They are still accepting applications for then, right?

Gold Finch - lol

Right now their working on still being there come 2010.

I’ve heard nothing about closing CSU campuses or denying entry in 2010. You might, however, consider moving and establishing residency near the campus of your choice if your absolutely fixated on a particular campus.

Get your application in early and don’t miss any dates! They are looking for any excuse to wash people out at the moment.

My comment was only in reference to the guy above me saying that they’re no long accepting new applications. I certainly didn’t think they wouldn’t be. As far as residency goes, I will actually be moving down to LA county come January but not to gain residency at the CSUs. They’re not even my first choice by any means. I’m just trying to secure options hence me applying to three of them, lol.

can you guys chance me for fall 2010 for SDSU, CSU SAN MARCOS, CSU Fullerton, and CSU LB?

Human Development major
2.53 gpa including transfer & non transferrable units
53 transferrable units
IGETC 99% complete, taking communications spring 2010
Some pre-major classes completed

Quick CSU transfer question…

I attend Glendale Community College, and our counselors are telling us we can use the IGETC instead, but we also have to do the speech requirement, of course.

But what about Category E? The Lifelong Understanding and Development Category? Do we still have to complete it even if we go by the IGETC and it isn’t on there?

Thank you!
