Basic Stats :

I wouldn't expect anything for another week or so.

A week or so? This saturday is the 15th. If they don't notify me by then I'm commiting to my other school. If they wait till after the 15 this whole proccess has officially gotten out of control.

Yeah, if I don't know on Saturday, i've already got a visit scheduled to Indiana on Monday-Tuesday, meaning i'm probably going to commit there if I like what I see, and can find a way to work it out financially.

Yeah, I got Wisconsin visit planned for monday-tuesday so I may very well be a badger next week.

DS has accepted his place at U of Toronto - so much for Michigan - glad to have it over

I was told today that my letter would definitely be sent out on Friday. As for an online decision, they're not sure if it will be on WA or not because of problems they have been having.

should i just send the deposit in at my other school the 16th, and then try to rescind, or should I wait until I officially hear from Michigan?... which could be 'til god knows when....

send the deposit...I almost want to ask Michigan to pay for the loss if I end up getting in.

If any of you deferred applicants are accepted to Michigan, are you going to attend??

Yes. (10 char)

currently accepted to illinois engineering
I will go to michigan over illinois for sure if im accepted.
But, I also gotta wait for my priority waitlist for carnegie mellon
but yeah, michigan would move up to my top choice over illinois if im accepted.

No one has to send a deposit--to any school--until May 1.

If you deposit somewhere else and then change your plans (either because you changed your mind, or an acceptance or aid package altered your options), that's a loss you might have to bear. Some schools will offer a pre-May 1 refund, or may offer a refund for special circumstances. But I have never heard of a school that paid you back for your deposit to another institution. I would think NACAC would frown upon this, because it's like bribing students away from another institution.

Some students deposit early because they truly have one first choice among their admitted schools, and their mind is made up well before May 1. Some students deposit early (or even double-deposit) because they want whatever real or perceived advantages there are to depositing early--but they do so knowing that they may lose the deposit (should their plans change) and apparently are willing to live with that.

If you don't fall into either of these categories--that is, you're not sure, and you're not willing to possibly lose the deposit if you change your plans--then don't deposit early.

Chill out, I was being sarcastic.

what is even the point of WA if they can't use it to tell us of our app decision status, we alredy know our credentials and that everything's complete, I mean really, I check it all the time, and I'm beginning to feel like an idiot. I'm not sure there ever will be anything on the site telling of my decision.

According to a counselor at my school that called Admissions (and myself because I called to)...

They are supposedly putting the decisions online Thursday and Friday (because all the decisions have been made). This part is slightly unconfirmed but thats word around my school.

Straight from the horse's mouth, they are mailing all decisions Friday and thus we should all "hear within the next week or two".

It sucks that they keep us waiting..... but I have zero plans on going so I'm not one of the people nervous about the whole thing.

So, they're putting ALL decisions online, or just acceptances?

o wait, nevermind, i just called and they said all decisions will be posted online, regardless of the decision.

KMOin06, you can't be worse than me with Wolverine Access. I've been checking that thing twice a day - during my free periods at school and as soon as I get home.

"...i just called and they said all decisions will be posted online, regardless of the decision"

That's awesome news. I don't want to see the size of the envelope in my mailbox and know the result before evening opening it.

So we should all expect to have a decision online by Friday. Teriffic. So if I get in I can cancel my visit! (lol that's all I care about).
