2010 Decision Thread for Deferred Applicants

Yeah I think its safe to say that if you applied near the deadline OOS and were not a minority it is highly unlikely that you would have any shot at an acceptance. Again, just my two cents.

Is it possible that Umich is waitlisting candidates this year instead of accepting them until they find out who is going to attend Umich or not? Could they have possibly accepted too many students and are now just seeing who decides not to go and then open a ton of spots for waitlist people? Maybe this is just hopeful speculation.

dggirl -- S. also applied to Kines. and has not received a decision on his deferral. A2Wolves6 also is Kines. and I believe his earlier post mentioned that he hadn't heard either. Wow, they told you Kines. letters won't be mailed out until next week? Did you get that information from a general clerk or one of the actual Kines. admissions counselors such as Mateo Carrillo (he sent son's deferral letter)??

ryan2288 I hope you are right :(

Info given by general admissions clerk, not Kinesiology staff as they were all unavailable.

I think ryan makes a good point. It's pretty strange that we were ALL waitlisted like that, when, in the past, upwards of 50% of deferred applicants were accepted. I'm thinking that Michigan is simply waiting to see how many people will enroll.

I bet that a good amount of people will be accepted off the waitlist.

Or, maybe this is just some attempt to ignore the fact that there is a very high chance that I will not be going to UMich next year.

Waitlisted

Okay, so Kinesiology applicants haven't heard yet. Admissions is different for Kinesiology, so maybe I do have a chance. This is going to be a stressful weekend.

ahh wolves your kines?

Yup - Sport Management

Waitlisted-- for umich is it just 50/50 when getting off the waitlist? And is it even possible to submit any more documents (i.e. report cards, additional writing, etc.)???

You do not have a 50% chance to get off the waitlist, more like 0.3%.

i really hope this year is different from previous years since no one seems to be accepted after getting deffered.
some of us should have gotten in.
at least the accptance rate of deffered applicants should be 25%

Yes, I'm curious if actually sending in any additional information will help bolster one's chances of being accepted off the waitlist?

this is truly bizarre, maybe Umich read my previous post about thinking nobody will get accepted and they thought it was a good idea...

haha ryan!!! you could be right lol

i doubt they even accepted 10% of the deffered applicants, let alone 50%!! I definately think they'll accept people from the wait list this time....they have to!

I've yet to meet a person on this board who got in after being deferred!

Hey i have a dumb question; can you accept both an offer of admission (for safety reasons) and accept the offer for the waitlist at michigan?

Indiana here too baby. Kelley School of Business kicks the **** out of Ross

Hey lewi, if I don't get into UM, it's Kelley for me too, lol

what happened to wisconsin? i thought you were going there?
