I know…I am surprised.
maybe they had more applicants than they usually do?
hopefully that means more of us got in! :)

It was on the certification form, which I no longer have a copy of. But I believe it begins on April 7th and goes through the following weekend.

LOL, call me lame, a pack rat, whatever, but I hardly ever delete my history, so the PDF form was still in there (hooray for Firefox 3.0 being extremely easy to navigate).

Here’s what the top of the form says:
By submitting this application, the applicant is applying for all scholarship programs sponsored by the Horatio Alger Association for
which he/she is eligible. The applicant is expected to understand the criteria for the Association’s Scholarship programs. It is understood
that, if selected as a National Scholar, this student must attend the all-expense paid trip to the National Scholars Conference in
Washington, D.C., April 7-11, 2010 in order to remain eligible for receipt of the National Scholarship, and that attendance at this
conference will be an excused absence from school.

Yeah, I’m hope they’ll understand and let me come from the 9th to the 11th if I get it.

aghh im so nervous

Me, too. You guys gotta post ASAP when you find out!

I called the Horatio Alger Foundation and I was told they are in the process of selecting the winners and it will be the end of January before the 2010 recipients are posted. I don’t know why it is so much later this year unless it was the number of applications they received. Guess I can quit checking on this for a while. If anyone hears anything please post.

I guess we will just have to sit and wait. I’m thinking they got a ton more applicants this year due to the recession.

Any idea how many they usually get?

damn this sucks. guess ill be checking everyday until they are out.

I went on the site to see “2010 Scholarship Recipients” and my heart dropped, only to find that the page only says “No 2010 Scholarship recipients have been announced. Please check back soon.”

hahaha! I don’t mean to laugh at you, but I would have done the same exact thing. I’m glad I didn’t check it today.

argghhhhh!!!im SUPER nervous omg. I really hope i get it. Especially since my b-day is at the end of Jan when they post winners…

I did the exact same thing…saw that it had changed from 2009 to 2010, clicked on to find out no recipients were listed…Since that just change today maybe they are about to list the winners…hopefully soon.

The 2010 national scholars list is out…no state winners listed, only national…go to Horatio Alger website and click the 2010 link…unfortunately my name isn’t on there but good luck to all of you!

Oh well. I am not a national scholar, and I don’t live in the right county to be a state scholar for Florida. Good luck to everyone else though!

Does it matter what county you live in to be a state scholar? I live in Georgia and thought it was just by state.

Congratulations to all the National winners! I’m the only one from Arizona to recieve it. I just got my call today from them congratulating me. How about that all expense paid trip to Washington D.C scholars?? Sweet, i know!.. Hope to see all you winners at the conference in April.

CiaoBellos.

Congratulations…now just hoping I win the state scholarship since I didn’t get national.

I didn’t win a national scholarship, and apparently they got rid of the New York scholarship competition for this year. =/
