T-4 days…

Ican’t believe this thread is only 2 pages long. Years past went up to like 35…

Super nervous

For some strange reason, I’m not nervous at all (probably because I know my research paper is terrible, I wrote the essays two days before they were due…) Just out of curiosity, is the school transcript an important part of the judging process or is that just for statistical purposes? What about the SAT score?

^ I have heard that really the paper is worth a great amount and other things are just really little (ie grades and scores don’t really count much).

AHH I am nervous too!

For my project, I investigating the genetic mechanisms of autism by comparing neurodevelopmental regulatory genes.

^ Interesting project… Someone is my lab is doing something similar to that…

Is it just my imagination or is the majority of high-school research being done mostly gene/biology/biochem/medical related?

T-3 days…

Well yeah, it’s either that or math/physics projects… But there aren’t that many fields to work in anyway…

True. The math ones have traditionally done well when they are submitted though. For example, one of the top 10 had a crazy math project. Same with Davidson Fellows. And there was someone at TASP who research the string theory.

AHHHHHHHHHH. So nervous now.

I’ve heard that Intel cares more about the transcript than other research competitions do.

^ Well yeah because Intel is the ONLY science competition that asks for a transcript (minus Davidson Fellows, except that’s different)… But even then, I heard that Intel doesn’t really care much about it. They really only care about the recs, how you got your project idea, how much you did it, and the merits of the project.

I know a lot of people doing behavioral projects at my school, but I don’t think they submitted anything to Intel.

T-2 days!!!

Alas! good luck! :)

Also. Today is a palindrome. 01-11-10. That is all.

^ Lol… Did you submit a project?

Waiting in nervous anticipation like everybody else. (:

ugggh why are they announcing it so late this year???

^ I know … wednesday I will be pretty ADD wantng to know lol

ugh i can’t focus on my homework… i’m just uselessly checking the site already. and it sucks that intel actually says it’s gonna be posted at 4pm. i know for siemens, they said sometime before 2pm which meant that when it came out at ~11am, the server was so overloaded and i could check it…
i just cant imagine what itd be like at 4pm this wedn. when im just sitting there refreshing the page…

and is it just me, but do math projects tend to do better at intel than at other competitions? either intel favors them or other competitions favor biology projects
