2010 Official Biosciences Interviews and Results

Stanffy? Lol SAPI3NS, you are hilarious :D

Congrats to all with good news!

anyone get a UCSF neuroscience invite today?

Got a UCSF Neuroscience invite today, by phone. Finally getting some california love!

@Yaygrady: I agree with molliebatmit. I’ve only had informal faculty interviews through the PIBS Preview weekend, but they were structured similar to that. Some were more serious than others, with us talking research the whole way through; some were lots more low-key, with a cursory introduction then getting to know one another (although one combined the two, where we ended up talking comics and how the professor’s research compared to robotics in Aquaman).

Does anyone know what’s going on with NYU Neural Science? I haven’t heard a peep, wondering if any of you have. Thanks.

My current supervisor just told me that a friend of him at Berkeley told him they are going to invite me. Strange flow of information, but as long as it is positive, I don’t care. :D

Does anyone know if Stanford Immunology has sent out invites yet?

Two things: Did anyone else who applied to Yale BBS and didn’t receive an interview invite (yet?) get an email yesterday from the Office of Graduate Admissions just saying that you can go online to see the receipt of your supplemental materials?

Also, what is going on with University of Wisconsin-Madison Neuroscience Training Program? Apparently some people have received interviews, some have been rejected, and some haven’t heard at all! Are they on a rolling admissions thing, or do they do interviews in waves??

@therainman: my D didn’t get an invitation to Yale neuro, and she received the same email. I think it was an administrative blast email to all applicants, for all programs.

I got an interview from yale BBS biochem/molecular biophysics a week ago and I also got the supplementary materials email even though everything is already submitted. Sounds like they sent it to everyone regardless of application status.

I got an invitation to UPenn CAMB today by email.

Invitations: Duke, U chicago, U Penn, Northwestern, Vanderbilt
Acceptances: MCG
Rejections: Wash U.
Waiting on: UNC Chapel Hill, Drexel, Wake Forest, Emory, SLU

Got my itinerary for GSK today! gasp!
SO EXCITED!!!
Invitations: GSK, Albert Einstein
Acceptances: none
rejections: none
pending: Mt. Sinai, UPenn, Vanderbilt, Pitt, Tufts Sackler

To those who applied to Yale BBS: I really like how the mass Yale emails all start out with an apology for sending a mass email. I think they know how much we suffer.

For those who have received invites from Northwestern IGP, when are their interview weekends?

@Rio2016

January 28 - 31
February 11 -14
February 25 - 28

Thank you. Wow, this Feb. 11 weekend seems to be very popular, I think I have seen at least three schools with this date…
Congratulations on your interview!

Thanks mollie and serric–appreciate your advice/comments.

@serric–Good luck on your UMich PIBS interview. Let me know how it goes, I am having mine on Feb 11!

Man, it really sucks being international, that’s all I have to say. My first interview weekend tomorrow - but I’m not sure why I applied to NYU Sackler, in retrospect, probably because I wanted to apply to a lot and then figure out later, who knows I might find a program I liked to suck and a program I didn’t think I’d like, I’d love… but closer look at PI’s and there’s no one I’d really pick over my current lab. Well, anyway, should be good practice, hopefully it will be fun!

Good luck to everyone with interviews - as always!

So what’s the deal with programs that only have one interview date (like Weill Cornell Neuro and Columbia Neuro) that call their interview weekends “Open Houses”? Does that mean you’re pretty much accepted if you got an interview?

has anyone heard from rockefeller yet? don’t know if Ive missed that one or if they are just being slow.
