@molecule:
I was wondering the same thing actually. I believe they do have interviews but I think their app deadline is Jan. 15th so they wouldn’t have really started reviewing…

For all those who applied to Emory (Biomed Sci), have you heard anything back? I was under the impression that they have rolling admissions. I am not sure about this though. Thank you!!

The MMG and IMP programs at Emory might do rolling admissions, as one of my friends last year applied around the Jan. 3rd deadline and heard about the interview offer around Jan. 26th for the late February interview, but those who applied earlier than that received earlier interview offers and interviewed in late Jan - hope that helps.

if you have heard from rockefeller, is it fedex overnight and WHERE are you located? since I’m in california and hoping that means I haven’t received it yet…since other people are closer to NY.

wasabi2u yale sent out the details of the interview last this week. also i got an email from the graduate student in pharmacology so it was kinda nice to get in contact with her before the actual recruitment weekend

Invitation to Drexel today by email offered 2/4 but I have already scheduled an interview. Going to see if they’ll let me visit when I am in Philly for U Penn. Otherwise I’ll probably turn it down.

Invites: Duke, Vanderbilt, U Chicago, Northwester, U Penn, Drexel
Acceptances: MCG
Rejection: Wash U
Pending: Emory, SLU, UNC Chapel Hill, Wake Forest

I haven’t heard anything either. Still waiting on Harvard immunology(probably rejected), Stanford Microbiology and Immunology, and Berkeley MCB. I hope that Berkeley MCB will send out another wave of invites.

Well, you got into “the other school,” as they call it, so maybe there’s hope for me there?

I don’t know about you, but I kinda knew MIT was the longest of long shots, and in retrospect, kind of a bad fit for my interests (not much in the way of translational immunology or host-pathogen projects)…but they made it look so great during a recruiting visit I went on this fall. Ah, well.

My impression from their website was that the most of MIT biology faculties are interested in traditional basic research, which is in contrast to my focus on clinical immunology. (Some one correct me if I am wrong about this) Regarding “the other school,” I feel lucky to be invited. Even though I do not have any inside information or source from the committee, I hope you hear from them.

I think you’re very right. When I was there for a visit, I had it stressed to me several times that it was not the best place to do translational research. One faculty member said the calling it biology program was a bit of a misnomer, and that it’s really more of a basic molecular biology program.

I have to admit, after taking a more serious look at Penn, NYU and Weill Cornell, I don’t know if MIT is even in my top 5 anymore; I think bragging rights (lame, I know) were the biggest attraction at this point in the game.
