RIO, the dinners are generally pretty expensive, if that helps. :)

Interview weekends are a lot of fun. Each program is different, but you’ll usually have some mix of dinners with students, dinners with professors, talks by students and/or faculty, swanky dessert socials, parties or bar nights with students, poster sessions by students and/or faculty, interviews with 5-10 faculty members, and a bunch of boxed lunches. Lots of socializing, lots of food.

Could someone please tell me the percentage of students admitted after interviews at Stanford Biosciences (Dev. Bio.) and Berkeley MCB? I’m so nervous. And WHY AREN’T THESE STATISTICS AVAILABLE ANYWHERE ON THIER SITES??? :'(

Admissions people at Berkeley MCB told me that acceptance after interview is typically around 80-90 percent. They told me that the interview is used to confirm that you are the same in person as you are on paper. Good luck.

Similar to SAPI3NS’ question, does anyone know the percentage of students admitted after interviews at WashU DBBS and UNC-Chapel Hill BBSP? How does WashU’s rolling admissions affect this?

does anyone know when Caltech biochem and molec biophysics sends out invites? or when the interview weekend(s) is(are)?

same goes for UCSF CCB program…?

I called Berkeley MCB and they said that if you haven’t heard by now about a Berkeley interview then it was “highly unlikely” that you would be offered one. You can call to find out if you want.

who here applied to the HHMI Janelia farm program, whether Chicago or Cambridge?

@ molliebatmit
Thanks mollie, any kind of informtion is helpful. Though knowing the dinner was expensive made me even more nervous - like that was possible ![]()
Good luck everyone!
Don’t forget to post your experiences! :)

My first rejection from MIT. Eh, no hard feelings. People I liked there were all way too big (reputation wise) for me anyway.

Got email from UChicago that they like my app but didn’t get reference letters. CLEARLY they are having issues because they were all submitted (as my online status shows) and it was done at the same time as all others schools. I feel like an ass asking my writers to re-submit/email. But that’s good that they bothered to email me and not toss out my application… means I’m not out of the running for their Comp Neurosci program.

hey - you’re the first and only person mentioning the BPH program at Harvard.
I got a call, then an email invitation for the Feb 11-12 recruitment week two-three days ago

did u get it too?
just reall glad to see a fellow applicant to the program

Located in St. Louis and just got an acceptance to Rockefeller!

I would also love to know how many are accepted to UNC-CH BBSP post-interview if anyone can help with this!

@molecule
are you interviewing there? ill be going in Feb

Did anyone hear from UPenn BBS (Pharmacology)?

Also, how many interviews do you think are reasonable to attend (I have five scheduled at the moment)? I’m have not declined any interviews so far just because I have no idea what my chances are at these schools after the interviews…

Hi guys, I’m relatively new to this forum, but I’ve been finding this message board very helpful. I just wanted to share out the info to students who have applied to UT Southwestern DBS. Just call their central admissions committee, and the lady said that they are still reviewing applicant files that are submitted around the Dec 15 priority deadline. This interview offer is an ongoing process that lasts until March. I have a feeling that it takes approx. 1 month to hear your interview offer after you submit your application. So, if you applied to UT Southwestern at the 12/15 priority deadline, expect to hear from them within this upcoming week if you are selected for an interview.

@microphd
I’m interviewing in March - I had a conflict with the February interview.

@washu2010
It looks like you go to undergrad at WashU. Do you have any idea what percentage of students get accepted after the DBBS interview?

could an international applicant (with u.s. degree) accepted to rockefeller please stand up?

I am Int applicant with US degree…haven’t heard from Rockefeller yet…

has anyone heard/know someone who’s heard anything from stanford cancer bio yet?

@jambromr - I got the invite to harvard’s bph program - I am stressed about the interviews now- do you know what percentage they take after interviews?
