2010 Official Biosciences Interviews and Results

Interview at Hopkins- notified by phone and email today.

I see that a domestic applicant on Grad Cafe recieved an interview invitation from Princeton Molecular Biology. Does anyone know what is going on with that? I thought they were done sending out invites.

Acceptance to harvard BBS…wohohoho! I am speechless!

Does Harvard BBS send out invites in waves…or does it mean that if I have not heard anything from them by today, my chances will be pretty slim…?

@biochemer
I wrote a professor in this department, asking about the interviews, and that is what she answered me:
“The Admissions Committee is busy reviewing applications and is inviting promising candidates to the February visit days on a rolling basis. Regardless of the outcome you will hear from Princeton by the second week in March.”
Her e-mail was sent on Jan. 12th, so not so long ago. I don’t believe they are already done, other wise she would had told me that, but that is just a guess.

@kwhitman: i just spoke to Kate from Harvard BBS and she said they send out invites all the way till the first week of February. They are definitely not done sending out invites yet. However, if you haven’t heard from them by then, it probably means you didn’t get in.

If you were invited to an interview from both UT Southwestern (Division of Basic Science) and Emory University (Molecular and Systems Pharmacology) for the SAME recruitment weekend, which one would you pick if you are interested in cancer biology?

Re: Princeton Molecular Biology.

They were definitely still sending invites out today.

I called UC Berkeley’s neuroscience program today. They sent out a few invitations this week, and the rest will be sent out around the middle of next week.

What people do you call to get this info on when they send out invites?

just got an invite from Columbia DBMI.

I call the graduate program coordinator, or whoever seems most likely to know, based on the “Contact Us” info on their site.

shin2na86:
since i am interested in basic cancer biology, i would go for UT southwestern ( and thats why i didnt apply to emory). if interested in clinical, i can’t comment

omg just got an invite to Harvard MCB!

I do wish that Harvard BBS would send out all their invites over one or two days. They could do emails to save time and get them all out quickly. It would make this so much less painful.

I also wish that we could call and find out… you know, to save them the trouble of calling us sometime over the next three weeks (I know we can’t do that, obviously).

@biochemer

I totally agree…I havent heard from Harvard BBS either, and I’m thinking that that means I got rejected, sigh…

columbia microbio/immuno invite today :slight_smile: just had an interview at sinai, too.

@gradhopefully

Harvard BBS sends out invitations through the first week of February. If you look at information from the past couple years, it seems like there should be a pretty steady stream of invitations going out over the next three weeks. I believe they just started today, so don’t worry yet!

Can you give any impressions of what the visit was like? I’m interviewing there in a few weeks.

Also does anybody know if Rockefeller sends their acceptances out in waves? I was a little disappointed to have nothing waiting for me when I got home the last few days…
