2010 Official Biosciences Interviews and Results

@NeuroApp

I did see they were invited to a “preview” (not “interview”) weekend and the decision is listed as “accepted by phone.” I was unaware that UCSD accepts without an interview first and I guess I am worried that decisions have already been made

oh man, I thought maybe thegradcafe only had “accepted” or “rejected” as options…but now I see that you can put interview. I know the neuroscience program does interviews (that’s where I applied)…but I’m not sure about the other progs.

ishuku:
Kudos on the cigar comment haha.

The deadline for UCSD (at least, for neuro) was December 1, so that result is possible, albeit unlikely. Perhaps the student confused the interview weekend with an actual acceptance?

Given the overlap between the two sites, the student might post here as well, with an elaboration.

First interview invite at University of Chicago!

Congrads LAC operon

which program did ya apply for and are you intl or american and when were you complete?

Got an invitation from UMass Med today. I submitted my applications last week. Still waiting to hear from four others: U Michigan, U Virginia, U Pittsburgh, and U Rochester. Will keep you guys updated!

Interview invite today from University of Chicago! I’ll be interviewing there Feb 4-6.

I can’t find the edit option, but I thought I should add that I am not international, and that I applied to the Immunology programs at those schools. My GRE was 760Q 570V 4.5AW with GPA 3.6 from top 25 private US university w/ 2 years of research experience in field.

Good luck everyone!

Tow of my classmates are now in the interview of Yale-BBS.(face-to-face in China)
How I envy them!!!

@Christine and Lac Operon - program/completion date/resident or international??

Congrats! But man, should not have checked this thread… Chicago is one of my top choices right now!!

Does anyone know if Columbia Neurobiology and Behavior has interviews? Their application was rather minimalist.

Most do, yes. That way they’ll know with whom you’d like to speak at interview weekends.

I’m domestic. Turned in my app on Dec 1. to Chicago: Biomedical sciences cluster. maybe I’ll see you (Christine2010) there!

By the way, if anybody’s still worrying about missing recommendation letters, I found out from my program’s coordinator that, although the online applications close to applicants on the due date, they don’t close to faculty recommenders. So they’ll still be able to submit online recs, even if they’re late.

gerrybio,

would you mind asking your friends when they applied to yale? thanks.

call me crazy, obsessive, etc., but i just realized that the copy of my application (the one you download from the application website) changed since i submitted it. the new copy now has the name of the reviewer and the interviewers recommended by this reviewer. has anybody else noticed this change? is this a good sign? i think this waiting is driving me to insanity…

You just gave me a whole new level of worry. I didn’t even think that would update. I hate this game haha.

ughhh GCN2, i completely agree!!! something tells me i better stop checking this website or other people’s updates (and lack of my own) will really drive me to insanity haha

ps - congrats to everyone re: chicago…makes me wish i’d applied there so there could be some definitive hope of hearing something before christmas :)
