I received an interview from CMM at JHU in the beginning of December and will be interviewing there this coming weekend. Not sure if they are still reviewing apps but my best guess is that they are all done. Don’t know anything definite.

Hi, washu2010. Do you know how many interview weekends they have? I submitted my application just before the Jan. 31th deadline. So, I’m wondering if they have a 2nd round of reviewing.

I meant the Dec. 31 deadline.

@bestdata: I submitted mine around mid-December and heard back from them last week. They have another interview weekend on Feb 10-13. you might still have a chance.

So far, i’ve got invitations from Baylor College of Medicine (CMB), Vanderbilt University (IGP), Emory University (MSP), UT Southwestern (DBS) and UT Austin (CMB). I’m waiting on the response from the NIH-Ox-Cam.

Good luck, everyone!

congrats to everybody who received interviews/acceptances!

i was wondering if somebody could clarify the following issue:

it seems that the stanford biosciences program has different methods of notifying applicants for different home programs. according to gradcafe and some posts on cc this year, the cancer biology program seems to be notifying via post. however, last year’s cc postings say that the program notified via email. does anybody know how this works? thanks a bunch.

it seems rockefeller sends only one wave of acceptance packages. can someone confirm this, please? thanks.

I’m currently interested in membrane protein structure/function, which is why UVa seems really great because they have a ton of people doing that. what are you into? I also applied to Harvard BBS (was going to do biophys but everyone told me it’s too hard to get into and they don’t really take care of you), Yale MB&B, Brandeis biophysics, Rockefeller, and MBSB at UPitt/Carnegie Mellon (wanted to stay east coast).

no word from rockefeller is killing me! has anyone called and asked if they’re done sending out acceptances? might do this next week…

hmmm so Im kinda short on the money to travel from my city to the school offering me the interview. School offers me quite abit of money for the fare but Im still 200 bucks short (i live across the boarder so maybe thats why). I dunno what to do whether i shud still attend and pay for the deficit myself…

any suggestions?

“How this works”? Obviously, each subfield just chooses how it wishes to notify applicants, and they don’t have to use the same method every year.

I heard from UNC BBSP around Dec. 15th but I was complete towards the end of Novemeber, I’m not sure if that matters. For what it’s worth I’m still waiting (not so patiently) for Emory as i was complete in December…
good luck to everyone!

I’m interviewing at UC Irvine (CMB) this month and U. Pitt. Medical School (IBGP) in March – anyone know what the stats are for how many people are accepted after interviewing at these schools?

From my own experience this year and from what others have posted on this forum, I believe that Stanford Biosciences Cancer Biology Home Program is sending out all interview invites via the postal service. My invite was dated to Jan 11 and received on Jan 16. As stated above, each home program has a unique timeline and method of notification. The only common factor is the same interview weekend.

Furthermore, from this forum I have gathered that Rockefeller only sends one wave of acceptances via FedEx and sends rejections in February.

One question, does anyone know when the Harvard open house weekend will be?

From the Harvard BBS website
The BBS program does not interview applicants. After thorough review, if your application is recommended for acceptance by the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences you will be notified by the first week of February 2010 and will be given the opportunity to visit during one of our 2 recruitment weekends (Feb 11-14, or Feb 25-28, 2010)

I’m dying to hear back from Harvard BBS too!

I did get an interview for MCB at Brandeis last week though. Is anybody else applying there? I called Tufts Sackler yesterday and the lady said if I don’t hear back by the first week of February, then my application has been unsuccessful. The MCB program director at BU Medical School told me they will be reviewing applications next Thursday. Their interview dates will be in late February and early March.

So, so far:

Applied: Harvard BBS, UCSF Tetrad, Brandeis MCB, Tufts Neuro, BU MCB, Einstein BMS, Stony Brook MCB, UCL Neuro, UCL Stem Cell and Developmental Bio

Interviews: Brandeis MCB, UCL Stem Cell and Developmental Bio and Neuro

Rejections: UCSF Tetrad

Has anyone heard back yet from Stony Brook MCB??

regarding molliebatmit #1369
it looks like BBS has changed as far as TAing
from BBS website
“Gaining some experience with teaching is required in the BBS program. Each student must fulfill one semester (60 hours, including preparation time) as a non-paid teaching assistant. When possible, the student should be a teaching assistant (TA) in a BBS or other HMS graduate course.”

Nothing’s changed. Mollie said:

However, BBS has always required teaching experience.

heard from penn cmb yesterday (?) for an interview feb 25-27. updated stats:

applied: yale, harvard, duke, columbia, penn, sinai, cornell weill, rockefeller, princeton, jhu, MIT
interviews: sinai, columbia, penn
rejected: MIT

krypton is correct, and I apologize if I was unclear – BBS students are required to TA, just not required to TA for undergraduate courses. Some students do choose to TA undergraduate courses, others choose to TA graduate/med student courses at the medical school, and many (most, I believe) fulfill the TA requirement via [community education](http://curriculumfellows.hms.harvard.edu/resources/teaching/communityed).

Greetings all. Has anyone heard from UC Davis BMCDB or Wisconsin ipib?

UCLA ACCESS interview- received through email yesterday :)
