So are we assuming that if we haven’t heard from Princeton Molecular Biology, it’s over? Bummer.

I’m really worried about Harvard BBS. It’s my first choice, but it seems like it’s getting late.

hey everyone! I am new here, and super excited to have a thread to get information about other people. here is what i have so far

interviews: washu dbbs, columbia biochem, johns hopkins cbi, ucsd bms, stanford cancer bio, and uw-madison ipib

rejects: mit and presumably rockefeller

I was wondering, does anyone know the acceptance rate from interviews at stanford? ive wanted to go there my entire life and am really curious about my chances. i can post stats if you anyone is interested.

thanks for being so helpful!!!

“I’m really worried about Harvard BBS. It’s my first choice, but it seems like it’s getting late.”

Yeah, it feels like it, but on gradcafe, they’ve been saying that its not over until Feb 8th.

I’m worried as well.

amyrin, I’d be interested in your stats. Stanford cancer bio I don’t know for sure, but for the programs I do know it’s ~60%

thanks pentaligin! i hope its about that…

GPA: 3.8 at top 20 university
GRE: 660 V 760 Q 5.5 AW
Experience: 4 years in an organic chemistry/biochem lab and one summer at a cancer bio research lab, one paper as second author

Interview invite from UVA!

For amyrin:

FYI the Brandeis MCB admissions committee met today so there should be another round of invites going out soon.

@RIO2016
yeah i think it’s the same contact info for the whole GDBBS program (and our 1st and 2nd choices are switched lol my second was micro). I hope we hear something soon!

I had a general question that may seem silly; i received an interview invite and i was given a choice of two dates a week apart (second to last interview wknd and last interview wknd). Does anyone know if it is bad to interview the last wknd if we have a choice as schools have filled up most of their class by then and it’s more competitive or does it not matter really? this particular school has a rolling review/admission process. thanks!

Kryptonsa36 - have you heard from Stanford yet?

No, not yet. But then, I’m hopeful I might hear from them next week, since the programs I applied to are all doing their final round of interview invites then.

@kryptonsa36

Which programs at Stanford did you apply to?

I called them because they’re the ones I applied to.

Thanks, I didn’t notice that post before.

I sent u a PM :)

I share your worries about Harvard BBS!!

has anyone heard from them after the initial ‘wave’??

Has anyone heard from Stanford Chemical and Systems Biology?

I hesitate to throw more madness into the mix, but the acceptance rates vary quite a bit by home program. The smaller home programs are only able to accept a few students, but they invite a few more applicants relative to their capacity than the larger home programs.

molliebatmit

Not to increase the paranoia with anybody, but do you mind clarifying your comments on the stanford home programs? I’m applying to smaller homeprogram and the email I got said they are only inviting 9 ppl and that we were “already part of a group of select interviewees” or something like that. Does that mean they are cutting? I’m not trying to get complaicent or anything but since the attrition rate to these places is like 50-60% as ppl choose other schools, do you think they are going to cut that many of us? Now I’m super nervous.
