2010 Official Biosciences Interviews and Results

I just called UPenn CAMB- Micro/Viro/Para track… They said they have already sent out (via email) almost 95% of their interview invites… Rejections will be notified latest by early March…

:(

I have an unheathly addiction with visiting this forum. No idea why I keep checking.

@biomed2010
When did you submit your application? I submitted one week before deadline. Around January 8th.

@ Lelouch: I got an e-mail from UM Baltimore MMI program on Jan. 22. - rejection e-mail :frowning:
Maybe if you haven’t heard from them, this might be a good sign (I don’t know if all programs check applications at the same time, though).
Good luck!

Has anybody had any success in contacting Emory GDBBS?!
I have tried to call them and e-mail them, and I get no response!

any word from Harvard BBS?

^Nope, but, according to page 77 of this thread, there is a message that says he recieved his invitation last year on Jan 26th. I’m hoping the next wave starts that soon.

@ Lelouch: I wouldn’t panic yet. My file wasn’t complete until Jan 9th due to a tardy recommendation letter. I just heard from them on Friday. They may not have contacted everyone yet. When they notified me, the email stated the admissions committee had just made the decisions the day before so all hope is not lost yet.

Also, I just got an email from UT Southwestern inviting me to their interview weekend Feb 26 so you might hear from them too.

i just talked to someone from stanford biosciences and a lot of applicants haven’t heard back yet…so there’s still hope. i’m still waiting to hear from a couple more biosciences programs there that are yet to make a decision on my app so good luck.

Thanks, aldo003… That makes me feel better.

Lelouch, I would go to the VCU dinners/meet and greets. I’m going to try to go to everything now, just to be on the safe side for the rest of my interviews.

Interview at ASU.

On grad cafe someone posted that the lastest Harvard BBS acceptances will be sent by Feb 8 [Harvard BBS • thegradcafe.com](<a href=“Grad School Admissions Results for 2006–2024 • thegradcafe.com”>Grad School Admissions Results for 2006–2024 • thegradcafe.com)

@RIO2016: I tried calling them today as well but same as your experience, NOTHING!!!
I find this incredibly bizarre. After Jan. 1st e-mail that my file was complete, i’ve heard absolutely nothing :(

@Lelouch: I applied to MMI at UMB as well and when my file was complete the woman informed me that they will be in touch in the last week of January because that is when their committee meets. So I guess we can keep our fingers crossed!!

And thanks biomed2010 for all the helpful info :)

Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone could give me any info they have on the chances of admission at U Michigan PIBS after interviewing?

I know they aim for an entering class of 65-70 people a year. Since they only have 2 interview weekends, I can’t imagine them interviewing more than 150 people. How many offers of admission would they offer based on those numbers?

I know no one is probably sure of this, but I am really quite nervous about it!

Thank you!

I got an email rejection from OHSU neuroscience, but it was a friendly rejection:

“This year we had a large number of applicants such as you with excellent academic records. Thus we had to make decisions about which applicants best matched our program. In general, we gave preference to applicants with strong backgrounds in science and math, as well as 1 or more years of post-baccalaureate research experience. It is our experience that such applicants are best prepared to do well in our program.”

So that is a nice tidbit of information for those perusing this forum next year :)

if you are correct, i would think that they would accept about 80% of those interviewed.

OHSU: “we gave preference to applications with strong backgrounds in science and math”

wow, go figure! but sorry to hear that brains.

Is Stanford done sending out neuroscience interview invitations? How about UCLA?

yeah stanford neuro is done.

hey xxxxxx, thanks – that seems to be the number someone mentioned in last years Biosciences thread.

If anyone has any thoughts, please share!!

And, brains sorry to hear that!

Sorry, brains. Don’t worry about it, there is still plenty of time!

EmilyLars, I hope UCLA isn’t done – last year they did it in waves up until early Feb. Every time I ask them by phone they don’t have much info for me. Oh well. I think we can hang tight for another week but after that, the ship may have sailed.

Dang, I just got wait listed at UMarlyand Baltimore and I won’t know until march if I have a chance. Oh well, so the record is applied to 8, interviews 2, rejection/wait list 1, and awaiting reply 5.
