Okay, would everyone who applied to Yale but did not receive an invitation check the website to see if you’ve officially been rejected? Please :)

Nothing on the website for me.

@molecule and LAC operon.

Yeah, I applied to Yale BBS and there’s nothing on the website for me either. And no email yet. Hmm, perhaps it depends on the particular track applied to? My first choice was the Microbiology track, second was Immunology Track.

Although I read somewhere on this forum that someone who applied to Yale Microbiology had already heard back from them in late December.

We just had a meeting this past week with the Harvard BBS administrative staff regarding recruitment weekends, and as far as we were told, most notifications have already been made. BBS admits a certain number based on our program’s funding, and all of those admits have already been notified. BBS tries to bargain for additional funding for additional students, so a handful more could be notified soon based on the availability of money provided by Harvard GSAS or DMS. If you haven’t heard by now, you could still be on the cusp of getting admitted, but chances are not particularly good.

If any of you know that you don’t want to attend Harvard BBS, will you let them know right away (before the preview weekend)? :D

Update:
International Student (did undergrad in US)

Applied: Harvard BBS, Stanford Biosciences, MIT biology, Yale BBS, Duke CMB, Columbia CMBS, UChicago Cancer Biology, Weill-Cornell (Sloan) BCMB, UPenn CAMB, WashU DBBS (MCB), Baylor (CMB)

Accepted: Harvard BBS

Interviews: Yale BBS, Duke CMB, Stanford Biosciences, Columbia CMBS, UChicago Cancer Biology, Weill-Cornell (Sloan) BCMB, UPenn CAMB, WashU DBBS (MCB), Baylor (CMB).

No words from MIT, but I dont really care as it was my 4th-5th choice :).

Anyone going to Yale (MGCD) on 4th?

@xiv21
what about international students and people with their own funding? no word about that?

I’ll be at Yale MCGD on the 4th

Does anyone know if the Vanderbilt IGP, UNC BBSP, and Baylor Immunology programs have finished sending out interviews invites? Do they usually contact you via phone or e-mail for the invitations?

I was just invited to the MCB recruitment weekend at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Does the term “recruitment weekend” (as opposed to “interview”) imply that we are basically accepted?

molecule:
When is the “recruitment weekend”?

@ neurohopes…

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

@n7el

March 5-6th, but if you can’t make it that weekend they will arrange for you to visit at another time.

@molecule I think it’s the same as an interview weekend. UChicago calls their interviews “recruitment week” but they have interview sessions.

newbio, I heard from Northwestern IBiS at the end of December for an interview.

Applied: Case Western Reserve, NYU Sackler, UPENN, Stanford, Yale, UNC-Chapel Hill, UVA, U Chicago, Baylor

Interviews: Yale, Baylor

Stanford BBS sent me a rejection letter dated Jan 25. I received it today.

I’m pretty sure Vandy IGP is still sending invites.

Oncogene, Congrats on a great application cycle, though I don’t think any of us are surprised haha. Well done.

@gremot: I’m sorry, I haven’t heard anything about internationals because I’m working on the recruitment weekends that consist of domestic students (mostly).

Congratulations to those of you accepted to Harvard BBS! Hope to meet you soon.

@xiv21

can you reveal how many offers of acceptance were sent out for domestic students? and by any chance, due to the difficult fiscal year Harvard has been having, it is safe to presume that fewer openings are available this year?

one last thing, i guess it’s pretty safe to think that next week will be “silent” regarding any calls/mailings of offers, right? you said there is a small cusp that may still be available, most likely the final offers made by tomorrow?

GCN2, thank you. Good luck with all your interviews.
