2010 Squadrons?

How and when will we know what Squadron our cadet is in? Also, does their lanyard color have any significance? Are cadets assigned a Squadron for a reason (accademic major, georaphic, etc…) So far I have found one partial profile of our boy on the 2nd AOG Album (photo #25). I couldn’t see what color lanyard he wore.

in a letter, ask your son to tell you what basic flight he is in, which corresponds to the academic year squad he will be in (which are completely random... the only exception is they won't be put in a squad with a family member, then they get switched squads next year, randomly for most, some have a legacy squad that a family member graduated from, and stay in the same squadron for the final three years). The basic squads are named Aggressors, Barbarians, Cobras, etc. alphabetically going until J for Jaguars. Then each squad has four flights: A, B, C, D. The academic year squads are assigned down the list alphabetically, ex. Aggressors A-flight goes into squad One, Aggressors B-flight goes into squad Two, etc. down the list so that Jaguars D flight goes into squad 40, the last squadron. Hope that made sense! And I might be remembering wrong, but I think the lanyards were coloured based upon basic squadron (ex. Guts is maroon, Aggressors is blue, that sort of thing). On field day they'll wear those colour jerseys. Good luck to your son, he'll be fine!

hey mom,

I am pretty sure that AOG has that information from what I remember hearing from parent club in past. Also they were giving out Squadron pins during inprocessing. They are probably closed today but you can send an email from there feedback link. I had told my son to send a post card of the information of squadron and sponsor family infor before he walked up stairs for inprocessing. I am not sure he did this yet as no mail has arrived.

I got lucky and found out from his coach what his squadron is. Coach probably knew this information because another member of team will be one of his Squadron leaders. It helps to know this as I was able to pick him out in the video put out by web guy.
