FallenAngel, you’ll have to call the school to see what they will accept. Eventually they will require the official copy. Most schools will accept some kind of estimate if you have a good reason for not being able to file the official copy this early. But every school has its own policy.

My two of my D’s colleges are IDOC schools and the deadline stated in the IDOC email matched the school’s websites. March 1.

Okay I’m not really sure on his reasoning but I know he has reasoning behind it, no pun intended. It might have to do with the fact that my dad is now almost in his 70’s and is in a declining state of health, so he’s probably need someone else to fill it out for him, and he knows he’s going to have to pay taxes so he likes to make sure they’re accurate, and a month off would really make a difference with the money he makes. I’m going to ask him again, but yeah I’ll try to ask him again this weekend, but I don’t think it’ll change anything.

Tell him that if you miss FA deadlines, your college education is going to cost him a heck of lot more money.

The months for income for his 2010 taxes are January through December 2010. Those months have already passed. He should already KNOW what he earned during those months.

Perhaps he can talk to the person who prepares his taxes. It might be possible to move his tax preparation to an earlier date.

Wait, is the chart for additional requirements that CSS gives you when you submit the CSS Profile to a school valid? It says that all my schools have a deadline for these additional requirements on April 1st except for a handful (which are due in mid-March).

If this chart is correct, then I don’t have to rush to finish everything by February 15th, I guess? That would make my week. haha

Not necessarily accurate. Each school should have accurate and easy-to-find deadlines posted.

FallenAngel, I wouldn’t rely on a third-party chart, you need to be completely sure about this. Go directly to the school’s websites, the Financial Aid page, and look for “Calendar” or “Deadlines.” I guarantee it’s there.

FallenAngel, if you are referring to the requirements listed by IDOC via the link in the email sent to you, then you should be fine.

So true–do not rely on CSS’s chart. For my D it said March 1 for her two IDOC colleges, but one is actually Feb. 15. CALL THE COLLEGES NOW AND GET THE REAL INFORMATION!
