I am an international student.

I was waitlisted at Columbia this year but they did not take anyone from their waitlist this year. I am wondering if I maintain a high academic standard at Wash U (double major in Political Science and Economics) what are my chances on transferring to Columbia as a sophomore. Columbia is my dream school.

I might not want to transfer from Wash U if I love it a lot but yea I most likely will try to transfer for a variety of reasons.

BTW what are also my chances at:

Yale

Penn (Wharton and CAS)

Stanford

If you read through many other chance reads for 2010, a lot of them want to transfer to schools like Yale/Stanford. Unfortunately, Yale and Stanford only take 2% of all transfers and therefore it is incredibly difficult to “chance” anyway as no matter how astounding your application is, it’s just so difficult.

also, I don’t advise going into your first year of college expecting to transfer, I did that and I don’t know if I had the best first year possible because I wasn’t giving my school a shot.

I did the IB too and I think it will help but consider making a transfer with non-ivies as well (or consider Cornell, which has a higher transfer acceptance rate)

Hey thanks!

Yea I understand that it’s extremely hard to chance for S and Y but what about for Columbia?

I should also clarify a little, I am from an Asian country and to be honest Wash U isn’t that well known in Asia but I do really love the school. I would like to transfer to Columbia because it is my dream school and to the other 3 because of their prestige (for work reasons) and they are also my dream schools as well but just they are extremely hard to get into so I don’t really think that much about them. I wouldn’t really want to transfer anywhere else except to those 4 places.

Columbia only accepts 10% of transfers (if that this year), it’s just so hard to get in it’s very hard to determine if anyone has a guarantee and since you have no GPA or college ECs, I don’t think I could let you know.

one of the beauties in transferring is that sometimes high school records aren’t focused on as much as college, so knowing your high school stats might not help someone predict if you get in.
