@emilsinclair is a guy… and not from Hawaii, i think!

lmao! I don’t know how pyoro knows I’m a guy, but yes, I’m a guy…and no, I’n not Hawaiian lol.

hey, I checked the philosophy pre-reqs for UC Berkeley and none of the courses they listed are offered at either of the CCs near me. what should I do?

then you take them when you transfer to berk. if your school does not offer it then you gotta take em when you transfer from my understanding.

by the way asd when do you plan on applying? this fall 2011 or the next?

why? does it have to do with when I am applying?

Anyone here care to comment on what the experience is like at Cal for Pol Sci/History junior transfer?

hi ayan,

i met a dutch studies and sociology double major once; she said that the reading load is ALOT (like i kno that i don’t have the capability to keep up); in math, I (<–so its subjective) have to read AT LEAST a good 1-2 hours BEFORE each course, so history (which is ALL READING) has to be easily double w/e mathematics is. also keep in mind this is before class, you’re better off not counting the hours spent reading/working after class.

juuuuuuuust as i thoughtttt.

How is the off-campus housing? Are the apartments decent (clean, not rundown), and what is the avg rate for a 1 bedroom? Thanks!!

Quick question: where do Berkeley psychology BA students do their research at? In UCSF Med centers, in medical centers/hospitals? thanks!

the reason why I am asking the question above is because we have a family friend who works at Berkeley as an accountant and he told me that pre-meds do similar volunteer works, internships, and research as students going for a BA in Psych in Berkeley.

@ Pino: If you’re premed and a psych major, you would probably do research in a lab on campus through URAP or some other research avenue. You -could- also do research at UCSF or nearby medical centers as well.

@emilsinclair9, i am strictly a psych major hoping to go on to clinical or social psych for grad school.

not pre-med

you sure? I thought you love becoming a doctor in madness.

A doctor as a Ph.D in psychology yes, but not an M.D

aww but M.D. would be mad doctor. how cool is that?

- How difficult is it to do econ with another major or minor?
- What is your experience trying to register for the classes you want?
- Do you think that, being a junior transfer, you have enough time to do things like study abroad?

not at all. i highly suggest you take another major if not a minor for sure because you’ll end up having to do other upper division courses to complete certain requirements and credit reqs so you might as well find yourself a minor you seem interested in and do that. i myself am double majoring in econ and sociology and i love sociology. the only downside is that i won’t be able to p/np any courses as i’ll be doing two upper division econ and two sociology the whole time. that too is something to consider because you’re allowed to n/np like a third of your courses and that’ll allow you to really focus on your major courses and maintaining a high gpa. something for thought

ehh iffy. i don’t have many options cause i still need to finish a couple upper division prereqs before i venture out and choose other upper division courses to fill credits. this semester i basically threw everything together the day before and last semester the orientation training helped a whole lot by basically giving you two add codes for your major stuff and a whole lot of suggested options for your other two (give/take) courses

definitely. upon orientation, i was given a “plan” for econ majors where it lists how many courses of what you need to take (generally speaking) if you want to double major, or minor, or travel abroad, or complete CPA courses, and other stuff. i’ll try and upload/scan those documents when i get the chance. but i believe you cn only take lower division or nonmajor courses or something when abroad so you basially have to take like 3-4 upper divisions one semester before you take off. i am already planning on taking at least one extra semester because i think 2 years at berkeley is just not enough to venture through it’s resources, courses and environment altogether. plus, i’m douhble majoring and took it nice and slow the first semester as a transition for myself.
