There is a lot of talk about UCSD accepting all transfers with a 3.0 and higher. What is the reality behind this? This seems a little rediculous. What are the chances for a UC applicant with a TAG?

I have a 3.15
Political Science Major
Good Essay, and ECs. I've stayed busy. What are my chances for acceptance.

Also, for UCSD, what does the message on your Tritonlink webpage look like. What does it say. I have seen one person who is on the TAG have a different message than me.

Mine says:

Welcome to the UC San Diego application status site. We are currently reviewing applications for transfer admission for the Fall 2010 quarter.

Decisions for transfer applicants will be posted between late March through the end of April 2010. Please check this site later in the spring for updates and the status of your application.

All transfer applicants will receive a communication from the UC Central Processor in mid-January. This will give you details about the Application Update form covering your completed coursework for the Fall term, and your planned/proposed coursework for Winter and/or Spring 2010 terms. This is a required form and the priority deadline to submit it is January 30, 2010 . If you submit the Application Update form after February 15, 2010, the information on it may not be reviewed or considered, which can adversely affect your admission decision. Please check this site later in the spring for updates regarding the status of your application.

Knightmight, if you browse through previous recent threads, you will see that UCSD will most likely admit you.
I have similar stats as you–but no TAG. If I were you I would rest easy (albeit anxiously :)) until they release the next batch of decisions. Anyone know when that will be?

Hey thanks. I have been told that my chances look good. Its just that after I looked at last years admissions thread for UCSD, their where quite a bit of people who were denied between April 30th and May 4th.

How sure are you that our chances look good.

The UCs will send notification in waves. I was told in less then two week another wave will come. Around April 1st.

I actually just spoke to a UCSD admissions operator and she said notifications are sent out on a rolling basis. We have to “keep checking until April 30th.”

I have a 3.10 GPA with a decent essay and bad ECs. I suppose you could say that I’m a late academic bloomer. I have a TAG with UCSD and UCSB but since my ECs are pretty bad, I’m a tad bit worried.

Frosty, if you have TAG you will be admitted. Given that it was accepted (3.0+ GPA and required courses fulfilled by the end of Fall 2009) then you will get into UCSD and UCSB (if those are the schools you signed your TAG agreement with). E.C.'s do not affect the TAG agreement.

Also: admissions are all on a rolling basis. The dates that are given (i.e. March 22nd for UCSB) are the earliest they release decisions. In other words, after March 22nd your PERSONAL admissions decision may come anywhere between the 22nd and April 30th. The same goes for UCSD (which began a few weeks ago, I got mine about a week ago now).

UCSB just has a set date on when it will start notifying freshmen and transfers.
UCSD has already started and a large amount have already been accepted.

GPA: 3.93
Major(s):
UCSD - PolySci/Public Law
UCB - Political Economy
UCI - PolySci
UCSC - Global Studies
and I can’t remember my UCSB major; something along the lines of the previous majors
Prereqs/IGETC: completed
EC’s: employed with Fremont recreational department/interned with the International Campaign for Tibet in DC for a semester

So far I got into UCI, UCSC, and UCSD, waiting on SB and Cal. But, If I don’t get into Cal ('cause it can be a crapshoot) then I’ll most likely be attending UCSD – great weather, great school :D

UCSD does -NOT- accept anyone with over a 3.0. The people talking about UCSD accepting over 3.0 = those who have checked TAG and have done the pre-requisites. stop getting confused.
