Im such a dumbass. There probably going to put a hold on my record.

Well, I hope youve enjoyed this. And once again, youre all very welcome.

When/how do you find out how you do on the MDT?

Hey, I was 101 as well.

To answer your question, on the second day, during your meeting with the OC, you find out what you placed into. However, the full printout was given to me during the tour on the third day.

How did they assign your roommate and how did the MDT look like?

I am fairly certain it’s by last name. My friends with L last names ended up together and my last name, several letters after L, put me three floors above them.

The MDT is 60 questions, MC, and you get about an hour and a half. You can also use a calculator. There were only like 3 or 4 questions with sin, cos stuff in it. Everything else is like algebra ii or easier. Should be no problem to get the required 36/60 for 31A.

I don’t think the roommate assignment is by last name, mine starts with an M and my roomate’s was with an S.

omg im the only one from my school going to ucla…
and i had to sign up for the very last orientation! which is probably bad when it comes to enrolling in classes

What kind of dorms do we get during orientation?

What do you do in the workshop?

Thanks so much for the post!

My question is what do most of the kids wear to orientation? Im from out of the area
thanks!

You live in Rieber Terrace, shared doubles and triples.
You sit and listen in workshops.
The weather is usually sunny, so dress accordingly. However, I would check the weather report before you go. It was cold during my orientation, and I regretted packing all shorts.

thanks for the great post.
i was wondering if we needed to bring our own towels or not? i know the info we got said to but other discussions said we didnt need them. it would save me a lot of space in my bag so thanks =)

No, you do not need a towel. They also provide you with hotel style shampoo bottles and soap so you don’t need that either unless you want your own. But make sure you bring shower shoes.

do you get to enroll in your classes in orientation or just advised which classes to enroll in and you go online yourself later to enroll?

^The orientation counselors advise you on the second day and then you actually enroll in your classes in the morning of the third day.

Anytime after that, though, you can go online and add/drop classes, as long as the classes still have room.

that’s a deatiled one… kinda puts me at ease knowing what is going on and all… so I’ve got a few quick (?) Q’s: does everyone have to take MDT? how many roommates do you have?? during the time when you are not doing anything (like German placement test) thats free time??

thanks :)

so u can go in with limited knowledge about what classes u have to take for your major??

@destiny2009 The only way not to take the MDT is getting a 5 on AP Calc AB or 4 or 5 in AP Calc BC. There might be an IB score equivalent, but not exactly sure. You have two roommates (a triple room) at orientation (at least from all of the people that I talked to). Yes, you will have free time if you are not taking the math placement test the first day and a lot the second day with optional workshops (but, you may want to start looking at classes and making your schedule work out). And for the French and German placement test, you will most likely want to sleep in (or go to breakfast) because you have activities till 1-2 am with the cabaret and scavenger hunt (if you choose to go to these). You will be pretty tired in the morning.

I had a double and so did someone else down the hall that I talked to. She was my earthquake buddy (we were both in our rooms when the building started swaying during the earthquake) :)

@kwwboarder must be an experience for you then …

so if you don’t feel like it and skip it, will it look awkward?? i mean are there people who skip these?

i am putting the same Q once again here: can u go in with limited knowledge about what classes u have to take for your major??
