So I called early morning last Friday and asked GT about the waitlist, and they said that it will indeed be ranked somehow

I just dont know how.

Speculations? I know that Waitlistees will have to updates grades AGAIN April 15th, but it can't be solely on that?

GP I need you ><

hmm I wonder if they would release the rankings so that everyone knows if they have a realistic chance or not… I guess they’ll just rank it based on who would we take next

I don’t know any more about this than any of you, but a few things seem intuitive to me:

1) The wait list would obviously be ranked. How else would they decide which people to admit if only some were to be admitted? I’m willing to bet that the “rankings” aren’t strict rankings, though (like #1 through #XXX). That would be too difficult to manage unless the wait list was very small (and Tech isn’t like a Med School where they have to matriculate an exact number). They more likely have students grouped into “Group A”, “Group B”, etc. and they’ll move groups at a time from the wait list to the accepted list (or reject list).

2) Every student on the wait list has at least a reasonable chance of being admitted. I have to imagine it’s easier to reject a student and close the file than keep it open, so why else why would they put you on a wait list if there wasn’t a reasonable chance?

3) They probably won’t release the rankings. They have nothing to gain by doing so.

Again, the above is pure speculation, and very likely partially or completely wrong.

wat? I called the Admission office and that guy promise me there will be absolutely NO RANKING in the waitlist, shoot!!!They lied!!!
