2011 AP Human Geography Preparation Thread!

@stalanta- Yes I am.
I’ve done pretty well on the MC (54, 61, 62) in the PR and Kaplan books.
I really haven’t been able to self-evaluate myself on the FRQs, though.

Sorry for asking, but Can you also send the released AP exams to ap.human@yahoo.com? thanks. From what I’ve heard and the people who took it last year, they predict that one of the frq’s will be agriculture related but I’m not entirely sure if its true or not…

Here’s a link to the 2008 practice test.
No one on here has the 2001 and 2006 released exams.

^^^ OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH that is a GODSEND. I’ve been poking around Google for HOURS in search for that. And I thought I was gonna pay >$25 for that exam from the CollegeBoard website…

can you send me the released exams…please
450716613@qq.com

Actually if you just want the released exam (for 2008), just click on Mrluggs link above my post there, and off you go.

It’s incredibly slow for me to download. Anyone else having problems? (I’m at 2% after 5 hours)

Hey stalanta, how many times have you read over PR?

^^ about 1.5

Anyone have any guesses on what the FRQs are going to be about?

There is definitely going to be one on one of the major models. Maybe Demographic Transition theory or Von Thunen or Mackinder’s. There might be a question on immigration or something. It’s really impossible to predict with all of the possible topics.

I took a Kaplan practice test quickly (just outlined ideas for FRQs, didn’t actually write them) and got a high 4.

How do you grade yourself for FRQs?

I thought the Kaplan practice tests were easier than the PR. But oddly enough, I scored about the same for both.

I’ve decided, I’m not going to school on Thursday, lol. I have soo many assignments due this week.

@Stalanta- Okay, I’ve read it about 1.5 times as well. Um for the FRQ, I usually deflate my scores :stuck_out_tongue: … But I’ve been hovering around 60%

Hopefully you’re all getting ready for the AP HUG test. Focus on the vocabulary. There’s a lot of words associated with AP HUG, but knowing them will help you to answer both multiple choice questions, as well as FRQ’s.

Don’t bullet FRQ’s, but don’t essay either. Best format:

Question 1
A. Answer

skip a few lines
B. Answer
etc.

This helps you to focus on each part of the question and answer them completely.

Never ever ever leave the FRQ blank…give it your best shot regardless of what you think you don’t know. You may actually pick up a point or two, which may just get you to that next level score.

Good luck!

A 5 is only like 58% right? Something really low I thought. I have never practiced FRQs. I figure, if I know the information well enough, I should know enough to write about it. I never did an FRQ before the APUSH test and I think I did okay with that, but then again, you never know.

I dont think a 5 is that low, especially now because we dont get penalized for wrong answers. Its probably around 70% for a 5

Yeah. 60% for a 5.

Can someone please email me the released exams/all the other materials that you received. i would do the same for you!! thanks
